I wear my deceased dog's blue collar everywhere.. Yeah. It sounds a bit weird, but at least it has a purpose. I think I'm a wolf, too. Or at least a wolfdog. I do a lot of wolfish things.. Maybe I'll go to a cosplay convention within the next few years. -Shrugs- I don't think I'm old enough yet. ^_^ R.I.P. Daisy 1998-2004 Aww... I would wear my deceased dog's Chester's collar around everywhere.. but.. he didn't have one.. o.o; He was such a good dog and I loved him... so I take my dogs that i have now collars... Angel and Ginger.. since they have their choke chains on all the time. So I wear their collars.

chick Hige here...just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their ideas for the collar. there unfortunately isnt anywhere around me that will do etching of my own design (aka the "x" or 23...whatever you want to call it) but maybe if i look a bit harder. i just dont want to spend a lot of money on it because i dont have much money to begin with. i think im going to go to Value Village or Goodwill and get one of those cheap dollar leather belts and use that. and i think the craft store has metal i could cut. i guess i might have to settle for permanent marker for the x anyone know a cheap etching place in Milwaukee, WI?

I made Hige's collar tonight, out of a leather belt, a 2mm thick piece of craft metal and a paint marker. Here's the result: It wasn't really cheap to do for those wondering, it requires good tin snips to get those strait crisp cuts, which cost about $15, a good quality (with rubber hand grips) srcapbooking hole puncher, about $5-6, the metal, which is about $4, and a good quality leather belt, ( $8 retail, girls large size at target, wal-mart, ect.) since the dog collars I looked at weren't soft leather and looked cheap. Plus the paint pen, strait edge, rubber mallet, and rivets. All together the materials cost about $35 or more. However, I do have left over materials and such and will probably be making some more and listing them on ebay if anyone's intrested, I'm thinking about $15-20, plus $3 for priority shipping. It does take about 2 hours of my time to make this since I etch the design with a leather needle before painting it on to give it a more porous surface to stick to, plus there's 4 rivets put in by hand and about 20 minutes of measuring and remeasuring involved to get it symmetrical, so I can't just give them away or charge materials only. The ones I do for either commission or ebay will have a different closure system as well, there will be snaps put into the leather, 2 about 2-3" apart for people with different size necks, also, this method is more comfortable, easier to put on, and will not show in photos. Also the rivets will be about 2mm smaller, as the ones I used are about 8mm and a bit too big to be completely accurate. Other than that it will look like mine, I made a stencil of the monogram to make sure they would turn out alike. The monogram and entire metal plate has been sealed with a polyurethane type liquid sealer designed with for metal so it won't get scratched. The edges have also been buffed so they won't cut anything. If anyone's intrested in buying one outside of ebay just pm me, if not, check on ebay in the next few weeks, just search for 'hige collar', or 'wolf's rain cosplay'. If custom ordering it should take me about 2-4 days to have it in the mail, depending on my work schedule. If not, thanks for listening to me ramble ^^ ~Lindsey

Lindsey? A female Hige?? lol, that doesn't sound right. I haven't even really seen a girl pull off Toboe well... or a guy for that matter. There's enough girls in the series. I really hope I can do it as Toboe and not look like crap. Wish me luck on that, lol.
Oh yeah, good work on the collar!

Yeah, the collars are great. I don't know, I think a girl could pull Toboe off just fine. ^_^ At least I think I could, but after pulling off Hiei I think just about anything is possible for me. I guess we'll find out. If I do get around to cosplaying Toboe I'll post my pic here and you can all judge for yourselves how good of a Toboe I really am. How's that sound?

People should just stick to their own sex when cosplaying And girls playing Toboe just emphasizes how girly Toboe is, and I feel sorry for Toboe :-( I'M A BOY!

You know, just cause someone's a girl doesn't necessarily mean they're girl-y! ~_^

Quite true, with some make-up done correctly girls can look like guys or at least androgynous. I think if you limit yourself to charcters who are your gender only you could be missing out on portraying a character who you identify with a lot. A good deal of my friends are crossplayers and they do a great job, a couple of them get mistaken for guys a lot...one girl even humped my freind who was a sesshoumaru. I choose a costume based on the character's personality or if I like the design of the outfit, I'd never have any fun if I chose only the female characters, because I don't identify with most girls, as as The Runt said, not all girls are girl-y, I am certainly not. Gender really doesn't amount to much in the grand scheme of things...there's just as many differences from person to person as there are between the sexes, and I don't know how many times I've seen crossplayers with better costumes than non-crossplayers, they tend to be very dedicated.

I've been playing Hige since March of 03 and to this day I still get so many people asking if I'm a guy or a girl. So crossplaying TEXTcanTEXT work. Plus, it's not only the costume or the face, you gotta have the attitude and personality to play someone like Hige or Toboe. And I know a few girls who have pulled an excellent Toboe.

Chaosanddarkness makes a lot of good points. To tell the truth, I didn't really like the idea of crossing playing at first either. I thought it broke some of the illusion of that character. *cough* I've definately been proven completely wrong recently. I've seen some really fantastic crossplays who really look and act like their character. I think Toboe almost has to be cosplayed by a girl because he's so young. I've seen a couple pretty good girl Toboes. I actually haven't ever seen a guy cosplay Toboe, but I really can't picture a guy (unless it's a young boy) cosplaying Toboe. He's too . . . uh . . . bishie to be done by a guy I think. ^^; But I could be proven wrong of course. Hige can so be done by a girl! The best Hige cosplayer I've ever seen is a girl! *jerks head toward fuzzyduc* Really, I've seen so many pics of guy Hige cosplayers who haven't been as good her. There's enough girls in the series. I really hope I can do it as Toboe and not look like crap. Wish me luck on that, lol. Actually, there aren't that many recognizable girl characters compared to the number of guys. ^^;;

Aw, thanks ^^ ^^ ^^ *circles foot in the dirt*
Demo, you're right. There's only a few women in the show. From Blue to Jagura, they're all pretty much difficult to do/play/act.
I've seen pics of Boy Toboes.. and you're right again, a lot of toboes are younger looking if played by a girl. ^^
fd - who could never pull off a Blue, Cheza, or a Cher costume XD
