Hell, a month had passed since Cheza's kidnapping, she must have been informed of this by then. But why did she attack Lord Orkhum(sp?)? Well, she pretty much attacked every single city. Why? Probably to exterminate the remaining wolves. Also, she attacked the remaining nobles so that they would not be able to interfere with her plans of opening paradise.

The girl you are speaking about it knew about Cheza being stolen because she was working with Cher. She was a scientist that was doing research on Cheza so no one needed to tell her what had happened.

It is also possible Jagaera used the same type of divination Orkum was employing. She had spell casters or magic users of some nature working for her. As to why attack him, I think she was consolidating her power base.

Those people might have been humans of high class status. They could have not been real nobles like Jagara or perhaps they were nobles but they had no power. Why bother killing your own kind if they aren't a potential threat to you.

Actually here's something I learned from wikipedia about Wolf's Rain.
SPOILERS (possibly)
The Nobles were actually wolves but they embraced their human forms and stayed like that forgetting that they were once wolves. Hence why they've managed to live for more than 200 years. I also think they're the catalyst behind the extinction of wolves 200 years ago. Because of the prophecy by the Book of the Moon, the Nobles feared the end of the world. And Darcia's grandfather was the cause of the whole thing before the storyline prior to Wolf's Rain began.
Whoa, I think I just discovered something there. It could be the explaination for all that's happened until recently.

I fail to see the explanation on how the nobles have lived for more than 200 years. Second of all... THE NOBLES ARE ALIENS!!!!! They've said that already.. and no if they were actually wolves then Jagara would just open her own Wolven Paradise instead of a shitty Noble's one.
Darcia's family was special

Whoa, I think I just discovered something there. It could be the explaination for all that's happened until recently. Nobles being humans that were once wolves. It is a good theory that is mostly based on the last episode. Where Darcia starts saying that not all humans were created from wolves. And that some of them were once wolves but had forgotten. Then stupid Kiba goes on to say, "And you actually remembered"(something along those lines). Implying that Darcia was one of those humans. And then nothing more is discussed about the subject, disappointing indeed. But we cannot say that Nobles were the only ones that were once wolves who embraced their human illusion. In Gunshot of Remorse, Darcia talks about these humans but tells Quent, "Your kind..." Meaning that Quent is one of those humans. And Quent is certainly not a noble. The Nobles were not responsible for the Day of Destruction. It was Darcia I and only Darcia I that was responsible for it. He tried to open paradise but failed due to a miscalculation. Darcia's family was special The nobles are aliens, another theory and the evidence proving it can be found in episode 26. Where Jagara mentions that the Nobles have becomed disconnected from their place of birth. And it the subtitles it hints it more, "We are far, far, away from our place of birth"(not the exact quote). But you dirty bastard, how dare you insult Jagara's paradise. Her paradise was a hundred times better than the wolves' paradise.

Well, kiddo, if you read what I was replying to, I was explaining to Sench that the Nobles WERE aliens and that from HER explanation I fail to see how they could live for more than 200 years.

To be honest however, it's possible that the nobles are aliens, and that Darcia became a wolf simply because of his curse. it can go either way to be honest, and I agree, nobles being wolves who have forgotten their origins doesn't explain their ability to live over centuries. what gets me is the monolgue in episode 27. it almost hints that nobles are humans who have the alchemy to prolong their life. as for the topic's question, Jagara was wiping out her competition for paradise, because there could only be one reason why that Lord Orkaum (SP?) wanted Cheza, for paradise, just like Jagara.

Well, it seems you like to call everyone kiddo, how right you are. I actually did read your post, and the one you replied to. And like Devinfire said, it isn't a fact that Nobles are aliens. If you only watch WR, then you'll never be sure. I recall that the creators mentioned in an interview(not found in any of DVDs) that the Nobles were originally meant to be ETs but they downplayed the idea a bit. They had more stuff about it but they decided to cut it out. Why? Who knows. The reason for their longevity is either that they used a form of alchemy to slow the aging process or maybe their anatomy is different(alien) and they are able to live longer. Or maybe is a little bit of both. It seems that the series and the OAVs contradict each other on the Noble subject.

There are many things about the Nobles and their connection with the wolves that we don't know about, so I'm not too sure if they are aliens. Either way, it's just anime so I'm not about to go overboard on this. Personally, I think the creators left many things out just to concentrate on the wolves finding Paradise. Or maybe there will be another series. Who knows?
I do agree with armand about the alchemy making the Nobles prolonge their lifespans.
