look at these two images. the first picture is of a bloom from a species of desert cactus, commonly known as the night blooming cereus. and the second picture... the Wolf's Rain lunar flower. coincedence?

heh, I knew that the lunar flowers were based on the night blooming cereus for a while. it came up on a mailinglist and the WR LJ comm already before WR started airing on CN.

So cool. I love it when fantasy ties back into real life. Just adds flavor.

It'd be hard to make anything in an anime without some reference. They just picked a good flower to be the lunar flower.

More than just based... Check out this image sequence of the flower blooming www.lenarealty.com/flowers/and this passage of text 'One of the strangest plants of the desert, the Night-bloomiing Cereus is a member of the Cactus Family that resembles nothing more than a dead bush most of the year. It is rarely seen in the wild because of its inconspicuousness. But for one midsummer's night each year, its exqusitely scented flower opens as night falls, then closes forever with the first rays of the morning sun.' Cool. ^.^ I wonder if I can hash some dna up and make a Cheza?

Yes indeed the flower is similar , but I suppose that was the aim of the anime producers . By the way for your information some of the anime pics were taken from real life and modulated on a picture desighner ( i suppose adobe photoshot but i don't think so )
