So, yeah, I went mall hopping today and bought the first volume of Elfen Lied. Has anyone else heard things about this anime?
I watched it tonight. Despite the FREQUENT, unnecessary, often gratuitous and exploitive nudity and the VERY FREQUENT and graphic violence factor, I'd have to say I enjoy it.
Overview: Man has been conducting brutal and tortuous experimentation on a genetically superior breed of homo sapiens. The diclonius(sp?) are born with horn-like growths from the sides of their head(which convieniently resemble cat ears for that cutsie allure) and mentally projected psychic arms that have the ability to severe limbs and crush bones (which the diclonius make very good use of throughout the course of the show). After escaping from a laboratory, one of these killing machines is washed up on shore in a nearby community. Having no understanding of her mass-murdering alter ego, the escape diclonius has been reduced to a barely functional, primitive, and docile girl, who's been granted use of only the word "Nyu"(Yes, another irratatingly cute kitten feature). Taken in by the two hospitible cousins, 'Nyu' (as they could think of nothing else to call her) begins a new life. The scientists, however, convinced her violent behavior warrants immediate extermination (yeah, they're pretty much on the ball with that one) seek out Nyu in the seaside town.
So yeah, it's five in the morning, and I'd like to get a nap before starting my day. If you'd like to comment or ask a question, respond.
I recommend it for those looking for a decent plot, dark and eerie, with a constantly evolving storyline, or those guys who want to masturbate to a violent anime but find themselves to embarassed to purchase hentai.
My dazed evaluation of the first volume is two severed thumbes up.
