Go you, DJ Toboe! Anyways, I would say that the three biggest musical influencers in my life are The Beatles, Green Day, and My Chemical Romance. well thats a weird mix but i guess everyone likes a little bit of this and that anyway not to hate i like those bands to...though less and less the beatles and greenday but none of those infulence me jimi hendrix got me into the guitar and saves the day picked out my style but hey my bands first cover and songs played together was the old scooby doo theme song

Music makes my pain go away, when ever I'm not in a good mood I go in my room lock the door and blast my music so I will feel better. That sometimes doesn't help.

Music is a mixed blessing for me. You first must understand that the sub-culture which my closest friends belong to, and which I associate with from time to time, is based almost entirely on a musical foundation. I go with them to shows at local (and sometimes out of state) venues and partake in their rituals of hardcore dancing (the zombie, the pick up the change, and your basic pit, etc). The female/male standards of society still apply to them, but from what I've experienced, it's at a slightly lower extreme, many males(not all) will readily accept females into their social circle and pass to them the same treatement that's given to other males....depending on the situation and how, erm, plastered they are this can be a good or a bad thing. This is not something I have experienced in many other social groups; though to an extent males will treat females with great amounts of respect, there's still a boundary between social cliques and activities. But, your status among the group is based almost entirely upon your knowledge of underground and classic hardcore and/or punk music. For fun, they'll listen to rap or hip-hop, but for the most part, their loyalties remain to the hardcore scene (I refer to it as that, assuming that some of you know what I'm talking about). Your status rises if you have a plethora of bands that you claim to listen to, or if go to shows on a regular basis. I hate that, with every sense of passion I can muster. Music is not the foundation of MY relationships. I love my friends dearly, but I cannot hold the same level of understanding for this sub-culture. Music to me is in the background of my life; I don't CONSTANTLY listen to it, and I can't constantly update my playlist to reveal a solid knowledge of "acceptable" bands, I simply don't have the desire or drive. When I come acorss a good band, it's usually by accident, and I can little for what others think of it. This is why I love music, but at the same time I loath the sub-cultures based upon it, and the social bearings that are applied because of it. You can see my conflictly emotions...and until now I hadn't the words to desribe them.

All my friends listen to much different bands and music then i do, tho we do share a lot of tastes, for the most part they always discuss music all the time which usually excludes me.
i dont base my life on music either, tho i listen to it a lot, all my friends sit at the comp all day and listen to music and then discuss how much they love it.

I've been dubbed with some of the worst musical taste among my friends. I'm "Black", so I guess I'm supposed to listen to more hip-hop and the like, but my tastes float toward the likes of Jem, Texas, and any soul/psychedelic music from the 60s and 70s. But do you think I care? Nah, because I have fun with my music. And people make fun of me, but every last one of them can admit that there's at least one favorite song of mine that I've turned them on to. Music is not a status symbol to me. I don't listen to music to be cool or popular ( as is obvious...lol). And I appreciate my friends' "suck-ass" taste in music because without them, I would not know about Darren Hayes, Jill Sobule, Lil' Wyte or Fefe Dobson. So fire up for those with odd musical tastes! My friends and I rarely talk about music. We just listen and learn. The most talking we'll do is "Hey...I like this song. Who is this?"
