Ok, I don't wanna make the forums any more political than they may already be, but I really wanna know what everyone thinks, so All opinions welcome.
If you don't know what's going on (or for those of you who don't watch the news OR read the newspapers)...
Fidel Castro has had problems in his knee for a long time, and I'm sure we all know that, seeing as to how every time he's on TV he falls. BUT He gets back up and tells his people he's fine, making him seem invincible and/or immortal to his people. Well, he's getting surgery done and for the time being he's handing his leader ship over to his brother Raul which no one likes. (Especially China.) And this has never happened before, so it must be pretty big.
Ok, you know what's up, now tell me what you think.
First of all what I think is, Castro is being very smart, taking all these precautions. But to give his leadership to someone his people don't agree with ISN'T smart. But he's doing it for IF he dies, his people won't be without shadow or without a leader. I also think he should've given it to someone else in his bureau that everyone is at least OK with, because IF Castro DOES die (because he does also have Parkinson's Disease) the people in Cuba WILL NOT let Raul lead them. Then all hell will brake lose and Cuba's economy and government will be torn to shreds.

Where's Raul I wonder....no public appearances so far...
Anywho...it is pretty big since Fidel has never handed over his power to anyone...ever...
If Castro does indeed die...then Cuba will inevitably go through a change...how drastic that change it may be depends on the people who will be in control. I believe the change won't be too drastic, however, it does seem like an opportunity to slowly transform Cuba into a democratic nation. Worst case scenario-civil war. Best case scenario-the ones in power decide to move towards democracy. Most likely scenario-minor chaotic era during transition, followed by the same old same old.
