Rakuen will host its first wallpaper contest beginning Tuesday, May 31, 2005! The contest will last for a little over a month until its deadline on Thursday, July 7, 2005. This should give everyone plenty of time to think, plan, create, and submit the products of their imaginations. Even if you aren't thinking of participating in the contest yourself, spread the word! Maybe someone you know would be interested in competing. For those looking for an incentive, there is also a possibility of prizes for the winners. I look forward to all of your submissions. Rules and more information can be found at Rakuen. www.jwsanime.com/R/R.html

I'd love to meet you both ^_^ I won't be able to go to A-kon this year because I'll be traveling in Asia for a while. Actually, my friends and I pre-registered last year, but I already sold my ticket to another friend who wasn't sure about going at first. Also, I don't believe Squall will be able to attend A-kon either. Anyways, back on topic.

No fan art? Not even if we drew it ourselves? I have a pretty distinctive style...

No fan art?:( Not even if we drew it ourselves? I have a pretty distinctive style... I'm not really concerned that people will try to submit their own art as the original Wolf's Rain art. However, there have been conflicts in the past when fans have used other people's fan arts, and they just turn into nasty arguments. :/

So we can use our own fan arts? Like, if I submitted the older fan art I put on this site, you wouldb't question if it was mine or not?

From the beginning I decided that submissions containing fan art of any kind, whether it belongs to you or not, will not be accepted in the competition. That way, I don't have to find out if the art actually belongs to you, or not.

Could someone please tell me what the heck YOU mean by fan art... Or is the whole wallpaper supposed to be nothing but several screencaps put together?

Well, I believe that fanart is a pretty clear concept. It's drawings of existing media characters. Whether I were to draw a picture of Tsume in his group pose from the side of the artbox or in a completely original sketch, it's fanart. Basically, don't draw anything from Wolf's Rain for the contest. So yeah, basically, do something creative with screencaps, I guess. It would be a lie to say that this doesn't bum me out completely because I had this awesome idea worked out where the whole wallpaper would be hand-drawn for the most part, but I think I can still make my idea work with screencaps (too bad all of us don't have a program where we can take screencaps on our computer's DVD player, another roadblock in my project because I can't really use a majority of the ones on the net). I'll probably still do the drawn one, too, just not as an entry to the contest.

That's right! No drawing at all! You take screenshots or scans or whatever and compile them into a background. Like this: It's not hard guys...

yeah...I'll try, Scarred . I have the idea...I just hope I can do it and not get frustrated early on and end up scrapping it. I'm not good with screencap manipulations...cutting and pasting. I do it very rarely, and like I said: I don't have a program where I can capture my own scenes...I'll have to download a demo and work from that: should be no trouble. Yep. I can definitely do it. I'm really fired up about this contest, yo. I've not made many backgrounds...should be interesting to see how it turns out.

Due to the length of time I was unable to check submissions and answer questions, I will pospone the deadline for the Wallpaper Contest from Thursday, July 7, 2005 to Saturday, July 16, 2005.
The definition of fan art is exactly as Crickie and DJ said. Basically, don't submit anything youv'e drawn.
