pardon me if this topic sounds completely ridiculous being addressed to a mostly male audience, but i'm just wondering if i'm the only one here that's bothered by an anime character's seemingly indestructible hairstyle, namely Cher's in WR. as a cosplayer i've discovered the hard way that some hairstyles (updos especially) are just plain impossible to keep up in real life without the assistance of hair spray, extra pins, clips, etc. (that's what i get for choosing Fuu to cosplay, i suppose... ) anyways, as i was watching WR again over these past couple of weekends i noticed that Cher's been in some pretty rough situations, such as being knocked over by that explosion in ep. 21, running around in general, and even falling with the truck in ep. 27, and none of these did anything to even slightly affect her hairstyle. i'm assuming her hair is held up by some sort of clip to create that voluminous little puff effect in the back (which personally i love and have yet to find a way to effectively emulate XP), and from personal experience i know that simply bumping into someone at school can really loosen the clip's grip in this kind of style. so, anyone else have any thoughts? are there other characters you know in any series whose hair just seems TOO impossible? my apologies for my weak attempt at starting a new topic...

I believe this thread is more suitable for the Wolf's Chat section.....
Anime character's hair.....
Vash....gel perhaps? Darcia's younger self....alchemy? And Jagara.....how can hair grow that long and be so radiant......
But what bothers me is that almost every single anime character keeps the same hair style/cut for the rest of the series....not to mention clothes.....

well the reason i put it in general anime was so that not just WR characters could be discussed. anyways, Vash is actually not impossible, i've seen some pretty decent ones at past cons. apparently you can get 5 inches of hair to stay spiked for hours using just gel. alchemy for young Darcia is probably the most plausible explanation out there, and Jagara... i only wish i had hair like hers. it all depends on the texture of your hair, i guess. and yeah, the thing with any animated character opening their closet and finding hanger after hanger of the exact same outfit gets on my nerves too. i mean, you'd get some serious frostbite wearing what half the characters in WR were wearing...

Ahh....a smart woman as always. Well, I wonder if Vash is even able to get some gel in the planet he lives in.....if not I wonder what he uses....*remembers scene from "There's Something About Mary"* For Darcia is either alchemy or a magic comb that Neige uses.....it's plausible....she does have a magic crystal ball after all. Jagara's hair pwns all other anime character's hair.....she's awesome like that...... I still wonder how Cher managed to get that far on high-heels.... The thing I detest about anime clothing is the so called...."magical mini-skirt".....no matter if a hurricane hits....the mini-skirt will always prevent anyone from seeing anything else....it is an insult to anyone's intelligence.... ;D

i thought there was an episode in Trigun showing young Vash with the hair gel... maybe it's been too long since i've watched it. i wonder how Neige (who romanizes these names?) gets her little hair balls so perfect, and also, what's up with the ultra-voluminous hair? Hige and Blue, Spike and Ed, they don't have afros or anything, but their hair is just so puffy! XP The thing I detest about anime clothing is the so called...."magical mini-skirt".....no matter if a hurricane hits....the mini-skirt will always prevent anyone from seeing anything else....it is an insult to anyone's intelligence.... ;D ugh, i know how that is. my first cosplay was Kagome, and even though my skirt isn't quite as short as hers it still caught the breeze quite well. i felt like a wind sock.

I haven't watched Trigun in a loooong time either.....cannot recall....
By the looks of things....Neze doesn't do much around the castle.....I suppose she has a lot of free time to get those hair balls just right. Hige manages to get his hair puffy by scratching his head so many times...The rest....I cannot explain....is like asking why most anime character's have disproportionate giant round eyes....
I believe I saw a picture of you cosplaying Kagome.....it must have been quite an odyssey....

you probably did see that picture, and i hate it. XP
maybe characters with puffy hair just don't brush it or something, although Blue's looks pretty nice and, well, washed. it's not often that an anime shows its characters actually living realistically, showering, eating, sleeping, etc. (Cowboy Bebop is pretty good about this, though).
i hear that the reason anime characters have such large eyes is that the japanese consider the eyes to be the most expressive part of the face, so they're more emphasized. which makes sense, because seriously, how many people do you know that talk with their eyes closed?

But Blue's hair is just an illusion....they can make their hair look cool no matter what conditions they are in. Cowboy Bebop is just good at everything..... So that's their excuse.....I thought it was wishful thinking...... There are alot of anime characters that always have their eyes closed....and with big smile on their faces....that's just creepy.

Blue's hair may be an illusion, but what about the humans/nobles? right now i'm picturing that scene where Jagara and Harmona were both sitting on that couch, long, blonde hair everywhere... so pretty. i'm jealous. XP as for the eyes, a lot of it probably is wishful thinking. not being derogatory to the japanese or anything but i guess it does get boring after a while when everyone has small brown/black eyes and black hair. that's why there are so many pretty colors in anime characters, i guess... There are alot of anime characters that always have their eyes closed....and with big smile on their faces....that's just creepy. kind of like my avatar. XD nahh, i've seen scarier: www.jwsanime.com/R/WR30-79.jpghis eyes aren't closed, but that's still one of the creepiest smiles i've seen in a while.

You mean this scene: i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/armandru/Jagara/WR26-13.jpgJagara has plenty of male servants to do her hair.....the other nobles and humans......I have no idea. Yeah....Japanese society is very dull.....no wonder anime and manga are so popular over there....a breath of fresh air. The link doesn't work. ;D But, I'm sure I've seen worse.....Ichimaru Gin......

i love how Jagara's servant's VA is also Crispin Freeman. <3 maybe Jagara's hair is so pretty and wavy from being stuffed into her little helmet all the time, which reminds me: she must have a hell of a time doing that, with all the hair she has. XD really, the link doesn't work? it works for me... anyways, it was from ep. 30 when Darcia was grinning like a maniac.

Wow, I didn't know that.....Crispin Freeman is everywhere.
Yeah....I've always wondered how she managed to put all her hair inside that helmet.....and she wears most of the time too....it must get quite hot in there.
I get an error message. Odd.....very odd.....
But his eyes aren't closed.....but the saliva makes up for it.....that's one crazy bastard......

if you think about it, seeing this in real life would probably freak you out... overall, i'd say that WR's characters have mostly realistic hairstyles (meaning they're possible without the use of 2 cans of hair spray/gel), but i guess having impossible hairstyles in anime can be a good thing. especially when people try to cosplay. XD hair mishaps are the funniest things since "wardrobe malfunctions."

who wouldn't be freaked out by that....
Compared to other animes, WR's characters' hairstyle is pretty realistic....but what about the hair color? Tsume is getting old fast.....
Now I'm intrigued.....I really need to go to a con.....someday....

hair mishaps are the funniest things since "wardrobe malfunctions." Wardrobe malfunctions? You mean like someone has had a shirt to short before? Or it fell off? That would be so embarrassing...unless they were trying to achieve that look. Wait! I have an idea for a wardrobe malfunction definition: Man Faye!
