Roseanne isn't annoying or obnoxious, you know how many people love this show? Okay so some may find it that way, but the majority love it. There's people that watch the Oxygen Network just to watch Roseanne, including myself, and nick at night as well. Family Guy is funny, but it doesn't even compare to Roseanne, sorry. Everyone is entitled to their opinion though

When the show was cancelled, the dvd sales were so enormous that she show as brought back, making it the first show to be uncancelled because of the success of the dvd sales.

Roseanne was about what we faced in everyday life, and that things don't always go the way we plan. It wasn't no Brady Bunch type of stuff, that never happened in real life. It was about Darlene having problems at school (IE. Barking like a dog in class) or DJ peeping at his sister (being a curious young boy) and him masturbating. Becky being a little boy crazy Roseanne a working mom at a low paying job and having to take care of the house and 3 kids. Her having to have "The Talk" with her daughters. That sort of thing happens in real life, yet they got by, like we all do

I think your forgetting one thing though, Family Guy is animated, and Roseanne did those things long before Family Guy ever did. From a viewer of Roseanne: "Roseanne" is a milestone in TV sitcoms. It shows a lower class family realistically and the problems and issues they face. It dealt with (for the time) risky issues that you didn't see on TV often. I still remember quite a stir when two separate episodes dealt with one of the girls "becoming" a woman and the son of the family discovering how to "pleasure" himself. Also it had episodes dealing with abortion, gay characters, alcoholism, drug abuse, premarital sex, workplace and sexual harassment, how to deal with elderly parents... None of the characters were squeaky clean or perfect...they all had huge flaws and faults. But all of this was done with realism, great acting and a strong (if sometimes caustic) sense of humor. You saw the characters grow and change over the course of the 9 years it was on the air. It totally fell apart during the last season (egos were going out of control on the set) and ended horribly but the previous eight seasons were just fantastic. And the Halloween episodes were among the funniest ever done for a TV series. Just great all around. If you've never seen it, catch an episode or two--it's worth the effort. " Agreed

...what does family guy being animated have to do with anything? I didn't say that Family Guy was better it just is in my opinion. I didn't say it was the most original, but it does have a lot of new untouched ideas too. I was just saying they both had things in common.

I enjoyed Roseane until (erm, spoiler) dan was killed off. Sean has a good point, the show depicts a lower class life with good family humor and drama. But both Roseane and Family Guy are two totaly different things and I really don't think it's right to compare them to eachother. Roseane's more for a family while Family Guy is great to kick back and laugh it off with a bunch of friends.

eh, wasn't trying to say that. I just thought they were way too different of a series to compare like that. It's really not fair because each one excels over another in some area.
