Just to take a little break in the reading...I thought I would post a couple of pics of Kenzi for those that might like to see her. I drew her, and I just thought I would share. I'll post more story tomorrow. KenziKenzi1

Within the room as the three of them ate breakfast Toboe grew tired of the awkward silence that had fallen and looked over at Kenzi, “So your name’s Kenzi?” “Yes.” She nodded. “Do you know Selphie?” “No…I don’t really know anyone here…I’m from Deling City.” “Oh?” he looked at her confused then gasped, “Oh! So you’re that girl! Tsume told me about you…he said…” “Shut up!” Tsume reached over whacking him on the arm. Toboe’s eyes grew wide but he quickly shut his mouth for a moment before adding, “This was very nice of you Kenzi.” “Your welcomed…I figured I should share it with someone.” She smiled. Toboe grinned taking a bite still fiddling with the yo-yo that now lay on the table. He sat in silence a bit longer before starting again, “So does anyone know what’s going on this morning? I haven’t seen Squall, Rinoa, or Selphie. Well I saw Selphie going to the second floor this morning…that’s when she gave me this yo-yo, and she told me she would probably be busy most of the day.” “I don’t know,” Tsume shook his head, “all I know is the cafeteria is ridiculously full.” “There was a notice on the dormitory door that all classes in Garden have been cancelled for the day. It seems they’re having some very important meetings on the second floor.” Kenzi told them. “Meetings,” Tsume looked at her confused, “about what?” “I don’t know it didn’t state…I’m sure it has something to do with battle preparations.” “Battle preparations?” Toboe grew concerned, “Are they really going to go and fight that guy?” “I assume so…I just hope things go well.” She hung her head. Tsume looked at her then cast his glance across the room, “I’m just wondering why they haven’t let us know anything. I know someone went there last night, but they never told us if they found anything or not.” All three of them looked up as the intercom crackled to life and Squall’s voice came over the entire Garden, “I need the five visitors in Garden to come up to the second floor classroom for a moment. Please make it quick…I’m sorry for the inconvenience.” “Hey…that’s us!” Toboe jumped up as he grabbed his yo-yo from the table and before running out the door looked back at Kenzi, “Thanks for the breakfast!” Tsume stood up also and looked over at Kenzi who still sat at the table. She looked up at him and smiled, “Thank you for joining me…Tsume.” “It’s alright, but aren’t you coming with us?” “No…I probably shouldn’t go. I don’t think I’m really a part of this anymore.” “Yeah,” he reached out taking her hand and pulling her from the seat, “you’re still a very big part, and I think you need to be there. Now come on.” “What if they don’t want me there though?” she hesitated. “Then they can take that up with me. You’re the one who gave them a lot of the information they have now, and you won’t be left out. Now come on…we have to go.” He pulled at her hand as he led her from the room and out of the dormitory.
Up on the second floor within Quistis’s classroom, Squall met up with the others and took a stance at the front of the room. He sighed as he began, “I’m sorry you guys have been kept waiting so long, but some major preparations have been in the making since early this morning.” “What happened?” Kiba asked. “We sent three people into the palace last night for the party…only one came back. Xu is very lucky to be alive right now, and I can say almost positive that the other two are not. Don’t ask me exactly how this happened…all I know is the explanation she gave to me. We are working with a power force much stronger than our own I’m afraid, but I figure if we catch this guy in this stage at least…we might still have a small chance at defeating him.” “So what’s the plan? I mean you don’t sound too positive on that.” Hige questioned. Squall chuckled, “I’m not…but it’s become very personal for me now, and taking this guy down is the only thing I have in my mind right now. I’m hoping to retrieve the wolves during our attack today, but I can’t guarantee what will happen.” “Today,” Toboe’s eyes grew wide, “I didn’t know it was going to be that soon.” “I’m going,” Kiba stood up, “I want to help at least in the retrieval of the wolves.” “I’m sorry it’s too risky…I think it’d be best if you stayed here.” Squall told him. “I realize it’s risky, but this situation is also very personal for me too. My plans are destroyed without that part of me, and I would at least like to be there so there is a higher chance of getting the wolves back.” Squall nodded understanding what he was talking about, “Alright…you can go, but watch out for yourself…we don’t want to loose you.” “So what is the plan?” Hige asked again. “Our only plan really is to attack the palace in Deling City and take it over by force. This is by any means possible and we will probably be using the Ragnarok to insure we get inside. We’ll take out the guards that get in our way, and then continue until we face this fake president. Upon meeting him…the battle will begin.” “Sounds spontaneous, but hey sometimes that’s the best action.” Hige grinned rubbing the back of his head. “Well I’ve devised a team of my strongest people here, but as far as what actually happens when we carry though with the attack…I just can’t say. Right now I’m willing to fight until I fall, but I am hoping for a victory.” Tsume stood next to Kenzi at the side of the room but took a step forward, “I’m going too.” Kenzi gasped looking up at Tsume, but didn’t say a word as she felt she had no right too. Squall nodded to him, “Alright…we’ll cover for you as much as we can. We’ll be heading out of here at noon so you two can just meet us at the front gate if you like. Is there anything else?” he looked out across the room. Everyone sat tranquil unsure of what to say so Squall walked toward the door, “If that’s it for the moment…I have to make a trip to Esthar. I’ll be back to finish the final arrangements before noon, so just sit tight until then.” “Geez…I wonder what brought this on?” Hige asked breaking the silence. “It doesn’t matter,” Kiba told him, “we might actually get somewhere this afternoon.” “Well yeah, but weren’t you listening…he’s not sure of anything. This is sudden and pretty much unplanned. They don’t know what they’re going into over there, and he didn’t sound too sure that they would make it out alive.” “I’m still going.” “Well then I wanna go too.” Hige pointed to himself. “No,” Kiba shook his head, “you and Toboe stay here with Cheza.” “But this guys gonna rip you to pieces!” “I don’t care!” he slammed his fist into the study panel in front of him, “This is the only way it can be done!” “Okay…Geez don’t get all irate over it. If you want to go off to kill yourself then go ahead I can’t stop you. I just hope you know what you’re doing.” “I do.” Kiba only looked at him and then walked out the door. Hige only shrugged and looked toward Tsume who had now cast a glance his way. Tsume raised an eyebrow, “Don’t even tell me you’re going to start in on me.” “No…I guess you’re in a hurry to die too.” “Someone has to watch out for him,” he jerked his thumb in the direction of the door, “So I’m going.” Hige only shook his head then walked over by Cheza, “Well…I guess that’s that. Come on Cheza…I couldn’t get into the cafeteria this morning and I’m feeling hungry. Let’s go down there.” Cheza nodded and stood up following Hige toward the door but stopped looking toward Tsume, “Be careful…tell Kiba also that this one will be waiting.” “Alright.” He nodded then watched them go out the door. Now with only Toboe in the room Kenzi turned to Tsume a worried look on her face and asked timidly, “Why do you have to go over there? Galadin will destroy you if given the chance.” “Kenzi,” he looked down at her but not facing her directly, “I don’t know. I think if those people can handle him…so can I. He has to be stopped.” “But…those other people have weapons and magic, and years of fighting experience on their side…you don’t have anything and Galadin knows that.” “I’m going.” He faced her, “Even as much as you would like to stop me…I’m going.” “Then I’m going too.” She grabbed his arm. “No,” he scowled, “you’re staying here. I’ll make sure of that. You can stay with Toboe.” He looked across the room. Toboe stood up and smiled, “Yeah…you can stay with me.” “But…” “No buts Kenzi!” he reached out grabbing her hand, pulling her from the room, and out into the hallway. Taking her in his arms he hugged her tightly and lowered his voice to almost a whisper, “I have to do this…can’t you see that, but if I go knowing you’re here safe…it will make it easier on me. Please wait here with Toboe…I will be back.” He tried to assure her. “Tsume,” she whispered back, “I want to let you go, but I worry you won’t come back. Please,” she reached up taking his face in her hands, “be very careful.” “I will.” He reached up taking her hand in his then leaned in giving her a kiss before allowing her to part from him. Kenzi stood looking at him a moment as tears welled up in her eyes, “Come let me know when you get back,” she then ran off down the hallway and out of sight. Tsume sighed running his fingers through his hair and leaned back on the wall closing his eyes. “Gee Tsume,” Toboe’s voice said from the door, “That was sad.” Tsume’s head came around and he looked down at Toboe who stood there a sad look on his face. He straightened from his slumped position and kept his eyes on the runt pointing at him, “You take care of her, and make sure she stays here.” He pointed to the floor of Garden then turned and walked away leaving Toboe there by himself.

Over in the presidential palace Quistis opened her eyes unable to remember everything that had happened prior. She turned her head and jumped slightly when she saw Galadin sitting there. She sat up quickly and looked at him, “What are you doing? And what happened last night?” “I was just making sure you were alright, and in case you can’t remember what happened…I kissed you. Don’t you remember that?” he stood up from the chair. Only staring at him now she nodded, “Well…yes, but I mean what happened to me? I passed out.” “Yes…that.” He turned his back on her, “As you have taken notice…I am not human, but on top of that…I am not mortal. I hold a power source unlike any around here a power that can destroy a human; however coming from another world has a lot to do with that. Miss Trepe…I know you are unsure of my intentions but I can assure you that if you stick with me to the end…all will turn out well for you.” “But what are your intentions? I mean how can I stick through anything as long I remain uncertain about what’s going on? I wish to know because I somehow feel that what I’ve taught you is changing not only Deling City…but the world.” She hung her head. “You couldn’t be more right,” he faced her again and went over taking a seat on the bed, “the world will be different, but under my power I will also rank supreme. The world will be mine to control, but it will be nothing to me if I have no one to share it with. I have spent so much of my time in loneliness and darkness I wish to take at least on thing with me that can bring light to my new world. That one thing is you, so now all I need to know is…will you be willing to leave everything you know behind and go with me, or do you wish to remain with your friends who will soon suffer with the rest of the world?” Quistis only stared at him in awe of what she was hearing and shook her head trying to come to terms with what she was told. She sighed as tears brimmed in her eyes, “I don’t know…I mean how can I sit here on the high side while I know my friends are there suffering. I mean it’s a huge sacrifice…and one that’s not easy to give up. How can you ask such a thing of me?” “I ask nothing of you,” he stood up now seeming angry, “I merely gave you a choice. What you decided is completely up to you…just remember if you choose your friends you too will suffer along with them. However…it can be possible for you and me to be together…though in reality I have a power that can kill you with one prolonged kiss. The choice is up to you Miss Trepe, but for now we must go.” “Go…where are we going?” she asked standing. “I must put my knowledge of junctioning to use, and I want you to be there to see as I take myself up to the next level. After I am done…I will be indestructible.” “What are you going to do?” “Come with me…and find out.” He grinned at her and then exited the room. Quistis watched him go as a bad feeling arouse inside of her, but she stepped out the door and followed behind him despite it.
After returning to Garden Squall made his way to the dormitory and knocked on one of the many doors there and waited. Before long Seifer answered looking down at him, “Afternoon Commander.” He greeted. “Seifer,” Squall nodded, “I need to speak with you.” “I promise whatever it is…I didn’t do it. I’ve been in my room all afternoon studying.” He grinned. “No…nothing like that. The notices that have been around the Garden were put up in order to allow us some time to prepare for an upcoming battle. A battle I’m not so sure we’ll come out of, but I’m going in no matter what. I’ve arranged for Rinoa, Zell, Irvine, Selphie, and even Kiros to go along with me.” “Okay…so what does this have to do with me?” “I want you to come along also.” “Me?” he looked confused, “But wait…what do I get out of it?” “I figured you might ask me that,” Squall told him, “So I thought it over and if you do this with us…I’ll grade you. If you pass…you become SeeD.” “Really,” Seifer rubbed his chin as he thought then nodded, “Alright…I’ll be your recruit, but one thing. Whatever group I go with…I lead them.” “I’ll see, but if it does happen remember to keep a level head on your shoulders. This is a very serious battle and one that can’t be fooled around with…no matter what.” “Alright… I can do that.” “Good…meet at the front gate at noon. We’ll be leaving then.” Squall informed him then turned and walked from the dormitory. Seifer grinned to himself at the thought of actually having another chance to become SeeD and turned to go back to his room when he caught sight of Zell knocking on Kenzi’s door. Interested he turned and watched Zell waiting for a moment before clearing his throat, “Hey…chicken wuss…what are you doing?” “Seifer…shut your mouth.” Zell retorted. “I would, but well I just wanted to tell you…it’s pointless to do that considering she’s not in there.” “How do you know?” Zell turned from the door. Seifer shrugged and closed his eyes as he told him, “She’s been gone since this morning. I’m assuming she’s holding up somewhere waiting for someone.” “Someone, stop beating around the bush Seifer…what are you talking about?” “The puss in black…she has a thing for him. I wouldn’t go looking for anything from her…she’s not interested in anyone else.” “What makes you so sure?” “Well…if you wanna continue with your idea go ahead, but I’m telling you she wants that guy. I asked her out and she turned me down…what one earth makes you think you have a chance.” He grinned then turned and walked back in his door. Zell frowned and let his shoulders slump as he slowly walked back to his room and closed the door.
Exactly at noon the Garden landed outside Deling City and the Ragnarok was brought around waiting to take the group of nine into the city to attack the presidential palace. Squall paced the area waiting on Seifer, Zell, and Tsume to show up. When they finally came to the front he looked out across the group and gave some last words before heading out, “Okay…this is it. This is what it all comes down to. Take this very seriously you guys and watch yourselves. There really is no plan of action just go in and make your way through the palace in search this fake president. Kiba and Tsume…you guys are equipped in no way for battle…watch yourselves closely and be careful. I’ll have some of the others keep a watch on you, but your main objective is to find the wolves. When you find them free them if possible…then get out. Seifer…you’ll lead Selphie and Irvine in. Kiros why don’t you go ahead and give Kiba and Tsume some back up…I hate to send them in there completely unarmed.” Kiros nodded as he stood with his arms folded over one another. Squall continued, “Rinoa and Zell…you two will be with me. Everyone keep a watch for Quistis also…we’re going in hoping to find her alive also. I can’t really think of anything else to say, so I guess let’s get on the Ragnarok and get going…we don’t have any time to waste.”The group made their way onto the ship and before long it lifted on into the air headed toward the palace. The Garden as soon as Ragnarok was lifted also picked up into the air and headed back out to sea to keep from being attacked.
Over the city now the Ragnarok was guided until it sat hovering above the presidential palace. The engines from the large ship drew the attention of the guards outside as they looked up into the sky seeing it. From the back ropes were thrown to the ground as the nine slid down and took off in their respective groups. Seifer took his group around to the front as Squall took his group along the roof. Kiba, Tsume and Kiros all headed to the back to find the entrance to the basement Kenzi had talked about. As they rounded the corner Seifer’s group was met up by some of the Galbadian soldiers and instantly started battle with them so they could go through the front door. Up on the roof Squall took the handle of his gunblade and busted out one of the windows where he then placed an explosive device into the bars blowing them out, leaving them entry into one of the rooms. As they climbed in they were also met with soldiers and began to battle their way through. Back at the basement the other group of three had been successful in finding the vent that led in, but no one was small enough to fit through. Kiros took an explosive similar to the one Squall had used and blew the hole bigger granting them all access to the inside. Once in the basement Kiba and Tsume looked around seeing no sign of the wolves or the cage they had been in. “Damn it!” Tsume cursed, “What now?” “We look somewhere else.” Kiba stated pointing to the door leading out and ran to it pushing it open. He stepped out into the hallway noticing instantly how half the passage was without light. He pointed down the dark half, “This way.” “Are you sure?” Tsume said staring down into the darkness. “Positive.” He nodded and ran down the hall. Tsume and Kiros followed lead as a heavy creepy feeling overtook the air. Kiba continued down until he stopped noticing people on the floor of the hallway. “What the hell is this!?” Tsume asked sickened. “We won’t know if we stop,” Kiba pressed on. Kiros thought of what Squall had told him and wondered if any of the bodies lying about were those of Laguna and Ward. Keeping his eyes open he continued to follow behind the two hoping they weren’t going into a death trap. Veering off the path they were on they came to the double doors that led into the ballroom noticing two soldiers there guarding the door along with the General. Caraway turned to them, “Visitors…I’m sorry but I’m afraid you can’t pass.” “We will pass.” Kiba told him. “Really, you and what army?” he asked and whistled loudly. From the other end of the hallway a large crowd of more soldiers joined them blocking the path.

Kiros stepped forward knowing he had to do something and drew out the two large blades he held in his hands. He looked back over his shoulder and said lowly, “I’m going to clear a path…you two go in while I stay behind and deal with them.” “Alone?” Tsume asked him unsure. “It’s the only choice we have…now on three. One…two…THREE!” he yelled and ran into the group slinging the blades about wildly hitting several of the soldiers in the process. A path now cleared Tsume and Kiba headed for the door but stopped when Caraway stepped out in front of them. An angry look came on his face now as he merely shook his head at them and closed his eyes. Kiba looked at Tsume as Tsume returned his glance then they both looked back at Caraway and took a dash at him knocking him through the door as they pushed him. Caraway fell backwards onto the floor but stood and hurried from the dark room leaving them alone now. Kiba grinned until he turned and saw the look on Tsume’s face then turned looking toward the front of the room. At the front of the room upon a platform the cage sat with the wolves, only now there were three as the white one was gone. Kiba looked about when he noticed the white one on a podium before Galadin, and Galadin chanting a strange tongue. “NO!” he hollered and ran toward them, but was thrown back as Galadin placed his hand out and snapped his fingers. Hitting the floor he skidded a ways before catching himself and standing back up. Tsume decided to take a run at it, but as he reached the stairs to the platform a blinding light grew from around Galadin stopping him in his tracks. As the light faded and sight came back to them Tsume and Kiba both looked to the front of the room now seeing Galadin facing them holding the white wolf in his hands. Raising it above his head he threw it out to where they stood its lifeless body stopping at their feet. Kiba dropped to his knees as he stared at it and only let out a horrifying scream. Tsume glared up at Galadin, “What did you do!?” “You,” Galadin spoke to him, “would be wise to leave now…as I am about to become invincible.” He reached back behind him then held his hand up showing the glowing spirit he now held in his grasp, “For the power of junctioning is now mine!” Kiba only glared up at him now and growled, “No…” but Galadin only laughed at him as he continued with the process. Now standing Kiba watched as Galadin attempted to junction his spirit with that of the white wolf, but hollered in pain as the spirit changed forms into the shape of a wolf and an eerie howl overtook the room. He screamed now acting as though the light that touched him burned him and he backed away from it. Kiba took a step forward and pointed a finger at Galadin, “For the only place this wolf is going…is to paradise.” Galadin only stared in horror now as he watched the spirit start down the steps and toward Kiba, and stood screaming, “NO! It is my power!” “No longer,” Kiba told him as the body of the wolf Galadin had thrown seemed to disintegrate into nothing and the spirit took its rightful place back with Kiba causing Kiba’s form to change before Galadin’s eyes. Galadin screamed now enraged at how his plan had failed and he took a dash toward Kiba grabbing him up by the throat. “Worthless animal, how dare you defy me!?” “Let go of me!” Kiba demanded as he began to claw at Galadin’s chest, but to no avail as Galadin still held tight. Tsume’s face grimaced and he looked toward Galadin then rushed over hitting him with his shoulder in the stomach. Galadin fell backwards dropping Kiba to the floor, but quickly stood and grinned, “You again…but what are you compared to him. Nothing…” he growled and reached out grabbing Tsume. With a free hand he raised it to the sky and began to twirl his hand about gaining a power into it as he still held to Tsume then reached down holding the force to Tsume’s stomach. Tsume cried out as it felt like his insides were being ripped out and Galadin let out an appalling laughter, “I should steal your soul now, but…” he dropped him, “now is not the time.” Tsume fell to the ground now feeling unable to move, and Kiba quickly took his side appearing human again. He lay there his stomach feeling as though it were in knots but managed to say, “The other wolves…get them.” Kiba nodded then started back up the stairs toward the cage, but was stopped by an unmovable force. He pushed against it but found it impossible to break the barrier then hollered as he once again was grabbed up by Galadin. He writhed trying to get free, but felt his strength slowly fading from his body as Galadin tried to once again claim the spirit from him. Holding tightly to Kiba, Galadin refused to give up as he seemed to want to crush Kiba’s body in his grasp, but yelled out when he felt a sting from behind and turned to Quistis there holding her whip. Dropping Kiba now he turned to her, “Why!? I would have given you anything!” She merely ignored him and looked at Kiba, “Get your friend out of here! I’ll hold him off as long as I can!” “But,” Kiba hesitated. “Go! It’s the only way!” she shouted. Kiba nodded quickly grabbing Tsume up and ran from the room. He stopped in the hallway when he saw Kiros there, “We have to leave, now!” Kiros agreed with a nod seeing he needed help and grabbed Tsume up as they headed off down the hallway the guards had ran earlier. Back inside the room Quistis stood her ground now looking at Galadin. His eyes now angry he kept his eyes on her, “You betrayed me!” “You gave me no choice,” she told him, “I can never give up my friends for something like this…I wouldn’t be human myself if I did. I’m willing to take you on now by myself if I have to, but I won’t let you hurt anyone else.” “Heh,” Galadin smirked evilly at her, “then so be it, but it will pain me to have to hurt you so…Miss Trepe.” She snapped the whip to show she was ready as he came toward her and quickly called out a spell that surrounded her in a golden aura. Galadin picked her up with one hand and before she knew it she was tossed across the room and into the wall. She stood on shaky legs now, but threw her arm in the air in front of her as she took a step forward and called out, “Shockwave pulsar!” Galadin watched as he was surrounded by light and lifted into the air seeming to orbit around a luminescent pillar. He felt a great pain as it engulfed him and when he fell back to the ground found some of his strength had been drained from him. However he managed to take a stand once more, “I don’t have time to play games Miss Trepe…let’s get this over with.” He then brought a hand up and held it out toward her as she involuntarily floated toward him. She struggled to free herself, but only grew closer to him knowing what he had in mind could possibly kill her. Now grabbing her by the chin he turned her to him and began to chant a spell. Quistis felt her life leaving her body, but managed to pick her hand up and hold it to his face as she shouted, “Firaga!” Once again Galadin screamed as fire exploded in his face and he dropped her to the ground weakened to the point she could no longer stand. Quistis pulled herself away from him knowing her spell wouldn’t hold him too long, but as she looked, the door seemed so far away. She reached out to it hoping for a miracle when Squall stepped in the doorway now staring across the room at Galadin. He motioned to Zell right behind him, “Get her…take her out of here.” “Right,” Zell nodded and rushed to Quistis helping her up off the floor. As they went out the door Squall stepped on in, “This ends now…even if I have to fight you to the death.” “It only ends when I say it ends.” Galadin hissed back. “Then say it.” Squall rumbled as he rushed to Galadin bringing the gunblade down across him. Rinoa took his side as her arm flowed out in front of her and she called, “Eden! I summon you!” Galadin reared back, his clothes now being ripped and traces of blood showing on his body. Taking a step back he pulled his arms back over his head and began to throw several balls of energy toward both Squall and Rinoa. Squall hollered as the power hit him, but Rinoa knew she felt nothing as her GF took the hits for her. Then as the balls disappeared, a large creature of unimaginable size appeared from the sky seeming to loom over everything in the vicinity. It slowly moved about until Galadin was picked up in a large beam and carried a long distance into a strange magic prison where more of his strength was sucked out and yet more as he was dropped to the ground.

Rinoa stepped back seeing the critical condition Squall was in and quickly yelled out another spell healing him part way. Squall put his hand up to her and shook his head as he remained in his kneeling position and gripped the handle of the gunblade tightly. Rinoa saw Galadin preparing for another attack and tried to think of what she could do when from behind a large pillar of light hit Galadin in the chest knocking him back. It happened again and again about six times and Rinoa smiled when she saw Irvine standing in the doorway. He grinned and tipped his hat as Selphie and Seifer filtered into the room also. Seifer wanting a piece of the action also ran forward striking Galadin with his gunblade causing yet more damage. Selphie held off a moment as she cast the same spell on her Quistis had used but took a place behind Rinoa as Squall stood to his feet. Still gripping the handle of the weapon tightly he grunted, slowly turning into a yell as a bright light appeared around him and the blade of his weapon changed to a transparent blue blade, and he dashed to Galadin pummeling him with a series of slashes from the blade. With every hit and every slash Galadin felt more and more of his strength leave him until he now sat in the spot he had been in before. Selphie now pulled her nunchaku above her head and twisted them in many different directions then as she snapped them to their furthest extent she called out, “Full cure!” Everyone in their group felt the pleasant feel of strength regaining as the magic overtook their bodies for the better. Galadin watched knowing if he stuck around much longer he would be defeated, so with what strength he did have left, he stood back to his feet and with a painful cry two dark wings appeared on his back. Quickly he grabbed the cage with the wolves in it and broke the bars on it grabbing the grey one out, it yelping as he gripped it in his fist. He then turned and looked at the six remaining people, “This isn’t over…not by far. I will get what I want…and you will all be my prisoners for eternity!” he then looked to the roof and before they knew what happened he had broken through and flown away leaving no trace of which way he had gone. Squall ran to the hole looking out and called, “Damn you bastard!” he then allowed his hand to fall to his side and he turned to the group. They all watched as he walked down the stairs his feet seeming heavy until he stopped before them, “Let’s head back to Garden…this is over for now.” “Did we win?” Selphie asked looking around. Squall only continued on out of the room and around the corner without another word. Rinoa watched him then looked back to the platform at the two remaining wolves and looked at Selphie, “You seem to be good with animals…maybe you should give it a shot.” Selphie only stared at her wide eyed but walked up the steps and to the wolves holding her hand out. Kneeling down she called out to one but shouted out when the smallest brown one came over tackling her. Its tail wagged about as it licked her and she looked at Rinoa, “Well…this one does.” Rinoa grinned at her then looked to the other only to find it gone. She turned in a circle looking for it, but jumped when all of a sudden she felt a cold wet nose in her hand. Turning she stared down into the eyes of the other one and knelt down rubbing it’s fur. As she ran her fingers through its hair she noticed the collar on its neck thinking it seemed very familiar when she thought of Hige. Gasping she got the general concept and stood back up allowing the wolf to follow her from the room. Slowly the others followed behind no one having much to say to one another as they cleared the area to head back to the Ragnarok.
Before long the Ragnarok landed somewhere on the Centra continent and met up with the Garden. Tsume and Quistis were helped in by some of the other members and taken to the infirmary for treatment. Zell stopped outside the infirmary entrance watching as some of the others helped Tsume and Quistis in, then turned headed back toward the dormitory to find out if what Seifer had said was true. Stepping into the building he walked toward Kenzi’s door, as the tension began to form inside him, until he stood with his hand up ready to knock. Lightly he knocked on the door and waited until Kenzi slightly opened the door staring out at him with her brown eyes. He offered her a smile as he spoke, “Hey…I was here earlier looking for you.” “Hey,” she returned the smile, “sorry…I was gone.” “Yeah, so in case you didn’t know…I was on the team going to the presidential palace and I thought I’d come by and let you know we’re back. I heard you might be expecting someone.” Kenzi’s head came up suddenly and she gasped, “Yes…but how did you know?” “Seifer told me, and though I wish it was me you were waiting for…he’s in the infirmary.” He ducked his head. Kenzi frowned as she now looked up at him getting what he was trying to say and lowered her head. “I’m sorry,” she replied meekly, “but…is he alright?” “I’m not sure what’s wrong, but I thought I’d come by and check out Seifer’s story, and tell you what was going on. It looks like he was right.” “Yes…I do love him.” She looked back up at Zell, “But I do appreciate you coming by to let me know. I’m sorry again, but I have to go.” She stepped out the door and looked back at him once more before turning and running down the hallway.
Over in the infirmary Dr. Kadowaki worked on getting the two injured some help as she passed back and forth between the two rooms there. She had sent everyone else out of the area for the moment while she worked, but stopped when Kenzi came into the room. She looked up as she searched for something in a cabinet and shook her head, “I’m sorry, but I’m going to have to ask you to leave. I have to tend to these two.” “Please…” Kenzi approached her, “I just want to find out if he’s alright. Is he hurt badly?” Dr. Kadowaki smiled as she looked over at Kenzi, “No…he is in a lot of pain, but it’s nothing some of our herbs here at Garden can’t help. He’ll be fixed up and out of here in no time.” “Thank you,” she returned the smile, “Tell him I came by.” The doctor watched as Kenzi turned to leave and called out, “Ummm…if you like I’ll go ahead and allow you to go in and see him. I know you’re worried for him.” “Are you sure?” she stopped and turned back. “Yeah…go ahead. I’m sure it might do him some good to see you, but here,” Dr. Kadowaki handed her some liquid in a cup, “Have him drink this…it will make him feel better.” “Okay.” She nodded taking the cup in her hands then walked over stepping into the room. She saw Tsume lying back on the bed with one hand to his head and the other on his stomach as he breathed trying to deal with the pain he still felt. Going over she sat the cup on a nearby table, “Tsume…are you alright?” He opened one eye and looked up at her then pulled the hand from his head glancing upon her with both eyes. She sat down in a chair beside the bed looking softly but worriedly at him, “What happened?” “I don’t know,” he shrugged taking the drink Kenzi had picked back up and now offered him. He drank it down making an awful face but then sat up tossing the cup into the trash. He sighed unsure of what to say to her so he just reached over placing his hand to her face, “I’m fine.” “Yes…thank god, but what happened with Galadin. Is he…?” “I don’t know…he wasn’t when I was taken from the room, but I’m not sure what happened after I left. He was in the process of using Kiba’s wolf spirit when we found him, but…” he thought of what had happened, “something went wrong.” “Wrong?” she looked confused. He shrugged again as he let his hand fall from her face and looked down, “I just don’t know. I can’t even begin to describe what happened, but in the end Kiba’s wolf spirit found him again.” “And yours?” “I’m not sure what happened to it, but I’m hoping someone else does. The other three were still in the cage, so maybe they got them back for us.” He seemed to grow frustrated as he turned on the bed and placed his feet to the floor. Kenzi took note of this and lowered her head, “I’m sorry Tsume.” “No,” he shook his head, “its not you…it just pisses me off because even though I stared the guy in the face things still seem unclear to me. I hope he’s dead.” He retorted. From the doorway Dr. Kadowaki came in looking across the room at him, “Well…you’re up and about, so how do you feel?” “Better,” he looked up at her, “What was that stuff?” “Just some herbs we have. We deal with a lot of these battles and such so we have pretty much anything for any situation. I’m glad it helped. You can go when you feel like you’re ready…the instructor has already left.”
Tsume stood up and nodded to her then looked down at Kenzi, “Come on…let’s go see if we can get into the cafeteria now.” Standing she took to his side and followed him out the door. As they left the infirmary Dr. Kadowaki only shook her head with a smile as she stated, “Another romance begins to grow…kids.”

Within the cafeteria, which seemed empty compared to that morning, Toboe sat at one of the tables with Hige and Cheza, still playing with his yo-yo. Hige watched him slightly amused, “Wow…you’ve gotten pretty good at that.” “Thanks…I’ve been practicing all day, but there is this one trick I still can’t get quite right. It was one this girl showed me earlier.” “Oh yeah?” “Yeah it was called around the world, and she was really good at it, but I just can’t seem to get it right.” “Show me.” Hige told him curious as to what Toboe was talking about. Toboe only shrugged as he held to the toy, “I dunno…it has to be kind roomy.” “Well go over there a little ways…I’m sure there will be plenty of room if you stand between the tables.” He pointed. “Okay, but don’t laugh at me if I get it wrong.” Toboe told him as he took a place in the middle of two tables and began to twirl the yo-yo about. As he twirled it he remembered what the girl did and pulled it up as he attempted to take it around his head but grew concerned when it came to a sudden stop after a loud thunk. He turned in a posture prepared to run if he had to as he stared at Seifer now bent over rubbing his head. “What the hell,” Seifer cursed in anger and quickly looked up at Toboe with the yo-yo. He glared at him, “You little punk, why did you do that!?” “I…I’m sorry,” Toboe apologized, “It was an accident. Are you…” he was stopped in mid sentence as Seifer grabbed him up by the shirt causing him to drop the yellow object to the floor. Toboe pulled at Seifer’s hands trying to free himself as Hige jumped up and ran over, “Hey! Cool it! It was an accident!” “Shut up!” Seifer let one hand go and pushed Hige out of the way as he still held to Toboe. Through the doorway, Tsume had just come in when he looked across the room and saw Seifer holding Toboe, and quickly rushed over pushing him in the back. Seifer jolted forward as he dropped Toboe then turned looking back at Tsume, “You again! Well this time we finish this!” Tsume only watched colliding with him as Seifer ran at him. The two of them struggled with one another as Tsume knocked Seifer to the ground and punched him in the face as he yelled, “Try picking on someone your own size!” “Shut up puss!” Seifer yelled back as he kicked Tsume off of him and jumped on him continuing the fight. Toboe now standing again watched the two of them and grew angry then jumped in on Seifer’s back wrapping his arms around his neck. Seifer yelled and reached back grabbing him by the hair of the head and pulled him over throwing him down in front of him. Tsume jumped over Toboe and rushed at Seifer again taking a swing at him, but was knocked back as Seifer grabbed his fist with one hand then brought the other around hitting his jaw. “What is going on here!?” a voice echoed throughout the cafeteria even over all the commotion causing both Tsume and Seifer to stop. From the door Quistis walked over and looked at the two of them, “I don’t know what this is about, but this is not regulation behavior.” “Shut up Quistis!” Seifer told her. “I do not have to shut up Seifer and in case you have forgotten I am a figure of authority around here and I have the privilege to write you up, so watch yourself. So you two had better have a good reason for this.” Toboe stood up, “I accidentally hit him in the head with my yo-yo and before I could apologize he grabbed me by the shirt and picked me up off the floor…Tsume was just trying to help me.” “Ha!” Seifer laughed, “Don’t listen to him! He started it by hitting me in the head with that f*cking yo-yo!” “Oh my god,” Quistis turned back to the door, “how about I just let Squall handle this. I am not in the mood to argue with you.” “Wait,” Seifer stepped up to her, “ummm…you don’t have to tell Squall.” “Yes I do…you know this kind of thing is against the rules.” “Oh come on Quistis…I’m sorry it happened…it was all a big misunderstanding.” He looked toward Tsume and Toboe, “Right?” Tsume only glared at him without saying a word and turned walking to the back of the cafeteria wiping some blood from his lip. Seifer grinned as he looked back at Quistis, “See…even they wanna let it go.” Quistis rolled her eyes, “Fine, but…don’t think this will excuse you the next time something like this happens…so I might suggest you make this the last time.” “Okay.” He watched her. “I mean it…next time I tell Squall.” “Okay!” he threw his arms out to his sides. Quistis turned then walked from the cafeteria to leave them alone. Seifer glared at Tsume and Toboe from the corner of his eye but walked on out of the cafeteria passing Kenzi as he went. She only watched him pass and as soon as he was gone she rushed to the table Tsume was at and took a seat. Toboe looked up at her and managed a smile, “Oh hey Kenzi…where have you been all day?” “Thinking.” she told him. “Man,” Hige said now, “that guy has got a major attitude problem.” “What I did was really an accident.” Toboe stated. Tsume sat there a moment in silence then a grin cracked on his face as he thought of Seifer getting hit in the head. This made a smile form on Toboe’s and Hige’s face also until they both bust out laughing. Kenzi only watched the three of them until she too started to laugh, but stopped when Rinoa and Selphie came through the door with Kiba. Cheza who had sat quiet through all of the commotion quickly looked toward the door and stood up. She then made her way over to where the two girls stood and approached Kiba embracing him as she smiled, “Kiba…you are back to normal.” “Yes Cheza,” he let his guard down showing his true form, “now we can continue our search for paradise…soon.” “Yes.” She whispered then stood up and walked back to the table Kiba following her. Rinoa smiled at the two of them making her way to the table the others sat at and looked at Hige, “There’s something I think you should see.” “Oh yeah,” he stood up looking at her his eyes growing surprised when she stepped aside showing his wolf form there. Hige stared a moment and came around the table as his wolf rushed to him knocking him to the floor. His breath was taken for a moment as he touched what he used to be and a tear made it to the corner of his eye. He buried his face in its fur to hide the fact he was crying then looked up at Rinoa, “Thank you…so much.” “It wasn’t just me,” she told him, “but I’m glad you have him back even if it is different from what it used to be.” Toboe watched as Hige hugged the wolf and wondered what had become of his when all of a sudden he was knocked out of his chair and covered in a lapping tongue. He looked up above him now his mouth forming an ‘O’ as his eyes met with his wolf’s. He giggled and laughed as he petted it then stood looking at Selphie. She smiled at him but it quickly faded to a frown when he asked, “Where is Tsume’s?” Tsume turned looking at her as he had just thought the same thing but Selphie only shook her head, “I’m sorry…I don’t know why but when we got that guy beat down good he fled. He took your wolf with him.” She told Tsume now looking at him. “Took it.” He stood now, “You mean…it’s gone.” “Yes…we tried to stop him, but he had these wings and he seemed to just disappear. Squall has already informed us that we will look for him, but we don’t even know where to begin. We can only hope we find him.” Tsume fell back in the chair now staring at the ground shocked as he wondered what Galadin could have wanted with his wolf. He leaned forward placing his hands over his face as he sighed deeply. Selphie reached out and patted his shoulder, “I am sorry…we’re going to do our best.” “Forget it,” he now looked up then stood again, “it’s not worth it.” Kiba’s head came around, “Tsume…” “Don’t say anything!” he shouted pointing at Kiba, “you don’t know anything about this, so just shut your mouth,” then walked away from the group and out of the cafeteria. They all watched him go the air seeming to be sucked from the room. Kenzi sat in silence wondering what it could have been Galadin wanted Tsume’s wolf for, but nothing came to mind as she thought. A cold chill ran down her body at the thought of Galadin still being out there, and she knew her fearing for her life wasn’t yet over.

As the sun sank and the sky was lit up in colors Kenzi stepped from her room and went down the hallway knocking on Tsume’s and Toboe’s door. She wasn’t surprised when Toboe answered and only asked him, “Has he come back?” “No,” Toboe shook his head sadly, “I haven’t seen him at all the rest of the day. I mean I have a pretty good idea where he is, but I don’t want to bother him.” “It’s okay,” Kenzi told him, “I’ll go and find him.” “Alright,” he nodded and shut the door as she turned leaving the building.
Out on the balcony in the Quad, Tsume sat on the railing looking out at the sky before him, a million thoughts running through his head. He sighed as he wondered what was going to become of his wolf spirit when he turned to footsteps behind him. He stood up when he noticed Zell there. Leaning back on the rail he crossed his arms and only looked at him. Zell stepped onto the balcony and exchanged his glance as he stated, “Nice evening.” “Yeah,” Tsume said lowly now looking back out to sea. Zell went over and leaned on another part of the rail and looked across at Tsume. He sighed, “I went by this afternoon and visited Kenzi…she really cares about you…you know.” “I don’t know.” He shrugged. “Don’t act like you don’t…only a blind fool couldn’t see it. I just hope you can give her what she needs in return…her heart seems very delicate.” “What is that supposed to mean?” he now passed a glance to Zell. “I don’t know…you just don’t seem like the type that can care for someone like her. I guess what I’m getting at is…I care for her also, and it galls me that she won’t even pass a glance my way. She cares a lot about you…a stranger from another world and in the end we both know she’s going to end up with a broken heart.” “You don’t know anything.” Tsume growled, “Now get off my back.” He warned turning away from Zell. Zell stood straight and went over standing behind him, “I’m not on it yet, but you should just leave her alone and let someone from this world have her. It would be a lot easier on her in the end.” “Easier,” he chuckled, “and just what do you know about her? How can you stand and state facts you don’t have a clue about?” “I’ll admit I don’t know a lot about her, but how can I get to know her when she has hopes of being with you. I just want a chance, and that’s not going to happen until you give her reason to give up that hope. Let her down while it’s still easy…don’t wait until things get out of hand and to the point it will crush her.” “Quit talking like you know everything,” Tsume turned to him now, “who’s to say I’m going to let her down at all? Who are you to tell me I should take her hope away? I don’t know what gives you reason to believe the way you talk, but you know nothing about me or the way I feel so shut your mouth.” “So do you care for her?” “I don’t have to answer that to you…the only one I have to prove anything to is Kenzi. Now get out of here…I want to be alone.” Zell only sighed and shook his head then left the balcony headed out of the Quad passing Kenzi as he went. He looked up at her for a moment, but hung his head and continued on without a word. Tsume took his spot back on the rail where he had been before, sighing when he heard footsteps once again, and turned expecting to see Zell, but was surprised when he saw Kenzi there. She looked at him from the entrance, “You’ve been gone all day…I’m sorry about your wolf.” “Me too,” he returned casting his eyes away from her, “but I’ve finally accepted the fact there’s nothing I can do about it. I’m thinking that guy might just hate me for some reason.” “I don’t know of many that Galadin doesn’t hate, but he wouldn’t take the wolf if he had no use for it. He must be planning something else.” “But what?” he asked appearing to be talking to the sky, “I’ve asked myself this several times and still I can’t come up with anything. What use would I be to him?” he looked back at her as though begging for an answer with his eyes. Kenzi only frowned and shook her head, “I’m sorry sweet Tsume…I can’t answer that because I don’t know.” He got up and went to her hugging her tightly, “I didn’t really expect you to have the answer…I had just hoped I wasn’t the only clueless one.” “No,” she told him stroking his skin as he held to her. He sighed feeling an unimaginable feeling at her touch and pulled her back as he went over taking a seat on the floor with his back to the rails of the balcony. Kenzi went over and looked down at him, “Can I join you?” He looked up at her, “If you want.” “I do.” She nodded now taking a seat next to him on the floor as she pulled her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around her legs. She rested her chin on her knees and sighed, “You know…I was kinda scared when I found out Galadin wasn’t dead, but for some reason…here I feel safe. I know he has to be looking for me, but even now…with you I feel safe.” “Kenzi,” he looked over at her trying to find the words he wanted to say but drew a blank as he thought. Growing frustrated with himself he sighed and looked away now thinking of what Zell had said to him. Kenzi watched him knowing he had something on his mind, but waited a moment to see if he was going to speak it. Gathering his thoughts he now looked back at her, reaching around her placing his arm around her waist. Kenzi’s breath was drawn as he scooted in closer to her and he pulled her head to his shoulder. She rested it there loving how it felt with him but was shocked once again as he straightened his legs and pulled her over so her head lay in his lap. Looking up at him now she offered a smile as he reached down pushing her hair behind her ear and looked at her speaking lowly, “I care a lot for you Kenzi, and though I have doubts of us ever getting back to our world…I wanted to ask you if you would come back with us when we go. I don’t want to leave you behind.” “Go back?” she looked confused, “I would love to stay with you forever, but when you go back to your world won’t you be a…wolf?” “If I’m not then I’m not going back, but if the situation comes up we do…I want you to come with me. Perhaps when we retrieve my wolf spirit, we can get yours back from that guy also and you can come join us in our search.” “Search…for what?” she asked seeming uneasy. “This place called Paradise. It’s supposed to be a place for wolves only…a paradise that is unimaginable, and I would love to share it with you.” He told her looking at her softly. Kenzi’s eyes filled with tears as she stared into his eyes as she said, “It sounds wonderful.” “Then you’ll come?” “Tsume,” she broke their gaze, “I can’t.” “What?” he grew shocked, “What do you mean you can’t?” “When I told you of my ability and it being taken and all…there was something I didn’t mention. Something that happened after Galadin took my spirit away from me.” “Then tell me.” “After Galadin extracted my wolf spirit and found it useless to him he didn’t give it back to me. Instead he let it go and I never saw it again.” She frowned. “He let it go…but wouldn’t it have looked for you?” “I don’t guess so because I never found it. I begged him to help me but it was pointless as I no longer meant anything to him. He refused me time and time again until I finally gave up and lost hope. I doubt I’ll ever see her again. I’m so sorry to tell you this…I would love nothing more than to come with you to this paradise, but if it’s only for wolves…then I’ll never fit in.” “It’s okay,” he told her now seeing she had tears in her eyes, “it’s just something that had crossed my mind. I don’t even know at the moment if I’ll even get mine back. If not…then we can build our own paradise…here.” Kenzi smiled up at him feeling a strong urge to kiss him, and as though he read her mind he leaned in pressing his lips to hers. She reached up placing her arm around his neck caressing it softly wishing they could stay like this forever. Tsume slowly parted still looking into her eyes as he breathed, “I can’t explain how I’m feeling, but I want to touch you so bad.” “Touch me,” she whispered back knowing exactly how he felt, though full of insecurity. Tsume reached down pulling her up into his lap then took her face in his hand turning her mouth to his and kissed her once again. Kenzi leaned into him, as she brought up an unsteady hand and began to caress his chest and neck. Letting out a low grunt through their kiss Tsume took his free arm and placed it around her waist pulling her in as close to him as she could come. Slowly he moved his hand down until he felt the smooth skin of her thigh under it as he caressed, and gradually moved it up until his fingertips touched her panty line. Kenzi’s breath was taken from her as she experienced a feeling she had never felt before and closed her eyes finally allowing a quivering breath to escape her mouth. Tsume also closed his eyes loving how her skin felt, but upon opening them his passion was hindered when he realized they were still out on the balcony. Reaching up now he ran his fingers through her hair and whispered, “Kenzi…we have to stop.” “Tsume,” she whispered back, “you feel great.” “But,” he helped her up then stood at her side facing her, “This isn’t the right place…somewhere else.” “Yes,” she blushed now realizing she had been overcome, “Come…this way.” She took his hand and together they left the balcony headed for the dormitory.

Stepping into her room a few minutes later, Tsume felt a nervous feeling overtake him and he looked about, “You don’t have a roommate?” “Well I was told someone was staying here, but she’s at another Garden right now learning some things. She’s not due back for another week.” She explained. “Kenzi,” he approached her taking her hand, “I’m sorry about up there…I just…I,” he stopped when she reached up placing her finger to his lips. She shook her head, “You don’t have to apologize Tsume…I loved it. Your touch makes me feel complete and even if it is for just a moment…I want to feel perfect with you.” “Perfect,” he looked into her eyes caressing her arm, “you are perfect. I don’t know what it is about you that makes me feel this way, but I want you…so bad.” He grabbed her now pulling her to him and hugged her tightly, “Oh god I don’t know what it is about you!” Kenzi embraced him in return, holding to him tightly as their mouths once again met in a passionate kiss and they began to pick up where they had left off on the balcony.
Later that evening Toboe sat on his bed looking through a magazine and bobbing his head around to a song on a radio he had found in the room, when there was a knock on the door. His wolf looked up to the door as Toboe got up and opened it staring out at Squall. Leaning in on the door jam Squall looked down at him and asked, “Where’s your roommate?” “Tsume,” he looked around the room then gave a shrug, “I’m not sure…I haven’t seen him since this afternoon. Is something the matter?” “Yeah…I was finally told about the fight that went on in the cafeteria, and well I guess we’re going to have to have another little talk.” “It was my fault,” Toboe hung his head, “I was playing with the yo-yo Selphie gave me when I accidentally hit Seifer in the head. I tried to apologize, but he wouldn’t give me a chance. He got really angry at me.” “So I understand…and I also understand your friend wanting to help you out, but this tension between the two of them has to stop the remainder of the time you all are here. Seifer and I have a rivalry as well…every since we were little, but controlling your temper is the first step to solving the problem.” “I know, but I don’t think Tsume will understand that. You might try looking for him on the second floor balcony…he seems to like it up there.” “I already looked…he’s not there. Do you have any other ideas?” Squall sighed running his fingers through his hair. Toboe thought for a moment then shook his head, “No sorry…I don’t, last I know Kenzi was going to go and look for him. You might ask her.” “Alright…I’ll do that. If he happens to come back here after I’ve left…tell him I need to see him on the second floor first thing in the morning.” Toboe nodded as Squall shut the door then turned going down the hallway toward Kenzi’s room. Going over, he knocking lightly on the door and waited before reaching up and knocking again. Confused he wondered if she was there at all as he opened the door and stepped inside appalled at the fact he found clothes scattered about. Sighing he continued on to her designated room only to find her and Tsume holding to each other in the bed fast asleep. He shook his head as he placed his hand to his forehead then leaned on the doorway and reached around knocking loudly on the wall. Kenzi quickly sat up and screamed when she saw Squall there, and pulled the covers over her hurriedly. Squall doubled over and twisted around to face the other wall as Tsume was now alerted and he sat up looking across the room at Squall and demanded, “What the hell!?” “I think I should be the one asking that question,” Squall informed him trying to think of a way to handle the situation. With his back still turned he used the toe of his boot to kick the clothing into the room, “Get dressed…I want to see you two out here,” then he turned and left the room. Kenzi, still holding to the blankets, got up and grabbed her clothes and began to put them on as she asked, “What do you think they’ll do?” “I don’t know,” Tsume stated aggravated, “just get dressed and let’s go see what he has to say.” “Okay,” she frowned now and continued to dress herself. Within a matter of minutes the two of them stepped out into the hallway where Squall waited, and Kenzi quickly looked to the floor feeling ashamed. Squall walked over and before Tsume knew it he had pushed him back though the doorway and into the room. Tsume took his guard now glaring at Squall, “What!?” “Don’t what me!” Squall told him, “I am sick and tired of having to remind you that this is a school! There are rules to be followed and that is definitely against the rules and that rule in particular holds serious consequences.” “Then kick me out,” Tsume growled, “I don’t care to go out on my own.” “Don’t tempt me…” “Wait,” Kenzi stepped up, “Please its not entirely his fault…I’m at fault too.” She told him. “I know that,” Squall looked at her, “and you of all people I would have thought to have a better head on your shoulders than that. This is completely unacceptable…” he thought hard of what to do as he put his hand to his forehead, “tomorrow this matter will be dealt with in full…and the consequences will be decided then.” Tsume only stood there trying to think of something to say but came out with, “I want to stay with her…until tomorrow.” “No…you are not. For the night you will go back to your designated room and stay there, and I don’t want to see you out until tomorrow and you, “he turned to Kenzi, “you will stay here. Don’t step foot outside this door for anything.” Kenzi looked at Squall then over at Tsume as a feeling of embarrassment and shame overtook her and she ran off to the room, throwing herself on the bed as she cried. Tsume turned looking that way and stepped out to go to her but stopped when Squall grabbed his arm. Reaching out he knocked Squall’s hand from him, “I just want to check on her!” “Go to your room,” Squall stated calmly as he pointed to the door, “I run this place and you will do what I say or leave now. She’ll be fine.” A rumble formed in Tsume’s throat as he looked at Squall, “You make me sick,” he exclaimed then turned and walked out the door and over to the other room where he slammed the door. Toboe looked up at him as he came in, “Tsume…what’s the matter?” “Nothing…just leave me alone.” He said and went to the opposite bed within the room and sat down. He sighed as he lay back on the bed and looked toward the ceiling thinking of Kenzi crying in her room and slammed his fist into the wall out of anger. Turning he faced the wall staring at it for a while before his eyes closed and he fell asleep now only dreaming of her face.

As the night wore on and things within Garden had finally calmed down, the large ship sat out on the waters overlooking nothing but the ocean. As it floated calmly about within the moonlight a figure appeared in the sky and eventually took a rest on the second floor balcony. Galadin stepped off the railing and onto the floor as he concealed the wings that had appeared on his back. Going to the door there he took the handle in his hand and ripped it from its place as he continued on down the hallway searching. Following the path, he made his way to the first floor and went over looking at the directory there seeing the directions to the dormitory and veered off to the left headed toward the place everyone laid sleeping. Going into the hallway he stopped a moment looking over all the doors there before placing his hand out in front of him chanting, “Melgoli emsemi hallios…show me where she’s at.” He grinned wickedly as a strange path only he could see was illuminated and he went to the door it led him to and opened it stepping in. Lying in the bed Kenzi tossed and turned as many things haunted her mind, but all thoughts ceased as she began to have visions of Galadin’s face before her. As she still dreamed she sat in darkness his face seeming to loom and appear from every direction she looked until the point the floor fell from beneath her sending her falling into a seemingly bottomless hole. She screamed out in her dream trying to grab anything, but hit bottom with a loud thump causing her to jolt up in bed screaming aloud as sweat poured from her pores. She breathed heavily sensing she wasn’t alone, but her eyes refused to focus in the dark, so she reached over to the lamp to switch it on but grew concerned when it failed to light up. Afraid to move now her eyes darted around the room trying see something…anything as she pulled the covers up around her body the feeling of something there becoming more intense until the point she felt a breath on her ear as she heard a whisper, “Kenzi.” She screamed again hoping this was all a bad dream as she turned now coming face to face with Galadin. Reaching out she shoved her hand out in front of her hitting him in the nose as she backed up into the wall. Galadin grinned and with a swift movement had reached over grabbing her up in his hand now dragging her to him. He stared down upon her like an animal upon its prey and leaned down, “I’ve found you at last…and I hope it was in the midst of you thinking I had forgotten how you betrayed me.” “Let go of me! Help someone!” she screamed again reaching up and grabbing his face with her nails as she scratched him. Galadin only grabbed her arm and squeezed it in his grip as he placed it to her side and proceeded with picking her up slinging her over his shoulder. Kenzi continued to scream as he carried her from the room and down the hallway. Tsume was ripped from his sleep he had fallen into when he heard a shrill scream from the hallway and he immediately thought of Kenzi as he jumped up and ran out the door. Others had also come to the hallway staring out as Galadin continued down the corridor with Kenzi on his shoulder. Tsume ran to the middle of the hall and hollered, “Kenzi! NO!” “Tsume!” she screamed for him when she saw him, “Please help me!” Without a moments hesitation he took off down the hallway headed for Galadin’s back but stopped when he turned now facing him. Galadin grinned as he turned looking at him, “So we meet again…and not for the last time I’m afraid. I look forward to seeing you come and find her, but you should hurry as…she won’t be alive long.” In a rage Tsume ran toward him, but was thrown back by a force causing him to hit the wall of the dormitory. He sat for a moment his breath knocked out of him, and turned as Squall stepped from his room with his gunblade already in hand. Dashing off down the hallway toward Galadin Squall drew the gunblade back ready to strike when he suddenly fell forward skidding across the slick floor. He looked across the way at Tsume there with his leg outstretched and Tsume stood, “No…you might hurt her!” “I will not!” he argued getting to his feet, “I know what I’m doing!” “No!” Tsume yelled again kicking the gunblade out of his reach with his foot. Squall stared at him angry now as he only watched Galadin go out the door. Tsume then turned and headed that way until he stood out on the walkway watching Galadin go and screamed, “I will find you! Don’t you think I won’t!” Galadin only continued on grinning now as he disappeared onto the elevator and from sight. Tsume then turned and started back into the dormitory passing Squall on the way casting a defiant stare his way. Squall only looked back at him knowing what he was thinking and stated, “This is not my fault.” Tsume only continued on down the hallway turning off into Kenzi’s room standing there a moment as the memories of the early evening came back to him. He sighed now staring at her room empty, and knew the time had come for him to leave Garden as he exited the room once again pulling the door too as he did. Walking now he made his way to where Squall stood and looked at him again, “Well…you wanted me gone…I’m gone.” “Tsume,” Toboe said from their door, “Are you really leaving?” “I have too. I’ll find this guy myself and reclaim everything that belongs to me. Even if I die trying.” “No,” Toboe gasped, “won’t you take someone with you? I don’t want you to go alone. At least let me go with you…Tsume.” “NO!” he turned to him, “I have to do this on my own, and I don’t want you following me!” “You can’t go anywhere right now…we’re in the middle of the ocean.” Squall informed him, “The latest you can leave is in the morning when we head back to shore.” “I’m not waiting until morning.” He only said and walked from the dormitory without another word. Squall only passed a glance toward Toboe who watched him worried and started behind him but stopped in his tracks when Kiba’s voice called, “Stop Toboe!” Toboe stopped and looked back now confused, “But Kiba…he’s going to get himself killed, and what’s he going to do jump off into the water?” “Maybe,” Kiba said matter of fact like, “but you can’t contain him like that. Let him go…a little determination goes a long way.” “I realize that, but is a girl really worth it?” “Whatever it takes, but…it’s not just the girl.” “Huh?” Toboe stared confused at him. “You don’t feel it because yours is standing right next to you,” he pointed to the wolf next to Toboe, “but Tsume’s wolf spirit is calling him and it wouldn’t matter if Kenzi was a part of it or not. This journey is inevitable for him…he has to retain that part of himself.” “But still,” Toboe looked sadly at his wolf, “I’ll worry for him. I hope this all turns out alright.” “Time will tell.” Kiba only told him then turned going back into his room. Toboe let his head hang and placed his hand on top of the small wolf’s head as he turned and made his way back into his room shutting the door behind him. Squall stood by himself now and looked across the hall at his gunblade and went over picking it up before heading back to his room also. Out on the second floor balcony Tsume now stood again looking out over the water as he had before. Placing his hands to the rail however, this time he hoisted himself up onto the side as he had been compelled to do before, and gained his balance as he looked down. He began to wonder if what he was doing was rational, as it made no sense to him, but thought of everything Galadin had taken from him, these things deciding the jump for him as he plunged to the water below. * * * * *

Slowly as Tsume opened his eyes he looked around at unfamiliar surroundings and quickly sat up trying to gather himself. He stared across the small room and looked down at the half bed he sat on wondering how he had gotten here as he stood to his feet. Upon standing up he felt a pain shoot through his leg and he reached down grabbing it, only causing a pain to develop down his arm. Taking a glance at both he saw white bandages on them now confused at what had happened to him. His head came up as he stared toward a door, a woman standing there now. She smiled at him, “Nice to see you’re awake…you were pretty beat up.” “What happened?” he asked her. “I’m not sure…you tell me. I found you on the coast more than half drowned, so what I’m wondering is how you got there.” She came on into the room approaching him. Tsume took a seat on the bed and sighed now thinking of how he had jumped off Garden and only shrugged, “It doesn’t matter…what I’d like to know now is where I’m at.” “Fisherman’s Horizon,” she answered, “so where are you headed?” “I don’t know…I know what I’m looking for, but I have no idea how to even begin to search for it.” “Well…what is it? You never know who might have some info for you.” “Kenzi,” he sighed thinking of her. “I see…a loved one. Well I haven’t heard of anyone around here with that name, but I do wish you all the luck in finding her.” She reached down touching the bandage on his arm seeing blood had begun to seep through. He grimaced and looked at her, “Don’t touch it.” “So sorry,” she apologized, “it doesn’t seem to want to heal. I hope you have plans on waiting a while before heading back out on your search.” “How long have I been out?” “A day and a half…you were lucky to live.” “A day and a half,” he jumped up, “I have to get going!” he doubled over again as he felt the pain in his leg. The woman only watched him shaking her head, “You won’t get far on that leg…not without bleeding to death first. I suggest if you just have to go then at least stop by the docks and see the old man there. He has some potions and such that will help with the healing.” “Potions?” he stared confused but shook his head, “I don’t have any money.” “It’s on me,” she took his hand placing some Gil in it, “I only wish you would stay longer. We see visitors quite a bit, but none quite as handsome as you.” Tsume’s eyes grew large as he stared at her now seeing the looks she was giving him. He stepped away keeping his eyes on her as he asked, “So where’s the closest place to here?” She only laughed, “Esthar would be the closest city but you need to ride a train to get there. Since they opened the track back up…otherwise you would be stuck walking. Perhaps you need more Gil?” she reached into her pocket pulling out some more holding it out in her hand. Tsume only looked down at her and shook his head, “No I’ll just find my own way.” “Are you sure?” she still held it out, “I promise I won’t bite.” “No,” he still watched her, “I have to go now.” He turned walking out the door without another word to her and continued on down the path wondering where the docks were at.
Over in Garden Quistis sat up in her room trying to concentrate on the papers in front of her but found it impossible. Sighing she lay the pen down on the desk and reached up rubbing her temples with her fingers. She turned looking toward the door when she heard footsteps and managed a smile for Rinoa. “Afternoon,” Rinoa greeted. “Afternoon,” she returned, “what are you out and about doing?” “Nothing really,” she continued on to the desk looking down at her friend, “just coming to check on you. We haven’t really gotten a chance to talk since you’ve been back, but you’ve also been so quiet since we’ve gotten back.” “Yeah…sorry…I have a lot on my mind.” She apologized. Rinoa only smiled, “I imagine, but can I ask you one question?” “Sure.” “Is everything okay with you? It must be hard adjusting to life back at Garden after being gone like that.” “A little,” she placed her face in her hands as she shook her head, “Oh my god…Rinoa,” she looked back up at her friend, “if I tell you something can you at least promise me you’ll try to understand?” “Ummm…sure…I’ll try. What is it?” Rinoa asked becoming concerned. Quistis turned in her chair now taking a moment before starting, “I can’t think… I can’t sleep, and all I do is mull over my time in that palace but most of all…him.” “Him?” Rinoa became confused. “Yes…Galadin…the man we fought. He’s haunting my memory so much it’s driving me crazy with every minute that passes. I can’t concentrate on anything no matter how hard I try.” “It will be okay Quistis…you’re here now and we’ll protect you. He won’t get you back.” “No,” she shivered at what she was about to say and reached up rubbing her arms with her hands, “I know how crazy this sounds, but I think I was falling in love with him,” Rinoa’s jaw dropped, “he was so kind to me and made me feel like I’ve never felt before. Despite how I’ve tried to find someone I never thought it would happen in a situation like that, or mainly with someone like that.” “Quistis…are you sure?” “What else could it be? I’ve never felt this way…ever, and no matter how much I try to think it’s something else that makes me feel this way…my heart tells me different. It’s just not convinced that anything other than love remains for him. I think about having to fight him and it hurts me that I hurt him but,” tears welled up in her eyes, “he was asking me to rule the world with him while everyone suffered, and ask me to give up the one thing I can’t…you guys. If it had been for anyone else I probably would have went along with it, but I couldn’t knowing you all would be hurt, so I chose to fight him but at the same time it broke my heart. I betrayed him Rinoa and all he wanted to do was love me…something I’ve searched so hard for.” Rinoa only stared shocked at what her friend was saying but reached out to hug her as she had begun to cry. Holding to Quistis she tried to comfort her, “I never would have guessed anything like that, but I don’t look down on you for it. You’re basically fighting a loosing battle, and if you’re convinced its love…it has to be since the only one that knows is you.” “I know,” she sniffed, “but how did this happen…he’s not good and not even human, but none of that matters. All I think about is how nice he was to me, how he protected me, and most of all…the passion. There was so much passion in the air I found it hard to breathe at times. It scares me really that it’s so strong.” She looked up now. “Wow,” Rinoa smiled, “sounds great,” her smile faded, “I’m sorry things had to turn out bad Quistis.” “Don’t be sorry…it’s not your fault or anyone’s. You all did what you had to do, but it was just becoming too much for me to keep it inside anymore. I had to tell someone and I’m glad you understood.” “I do my best but,” she stopped as a thought crossed her mind, “what if we have to fight him again?” “That thought has crossed my mind also, and I’ve come to the decision that if it happens…I don’t want a part in it. I know that’s silly, but I just can’t do it.” “Not silly but Squall will be wondering why.” “I know,” she hung her head, “but if it comes up I’ll explain it. I don’t care if they kick me out of Garden or what I’m not going through with it. It’d kill me to have to hurt him again.” “I don’t think they’ll kick you out, but Squall is so upset right now he might take it the wrong way. So even if he comes down hard on you…try not to take it too personal. He’s carrying a lot of weight right now.” “I’ll keep that in mind.” She sighed once again, “I have to get some of this done, but I can’t concentrate. Want to join me for lunch…maybe I’ll do better when I come back?” “Sure…I’d love too.” “Good…I was hoping you would. Come on.” She stood as the two girls then walked out the door and down the hallway.
After finding a way onto the train to Esthar, Tsume was taken to the station just outside the large continent the city say on. Stepping out of the station he looked toward the fence that sat there and walked through the gate that had been made. Scanning the area with his eyes he tried to decide where to go when he noticed the extraordinarily large city in the distance and started that way hoping someone would have some answers. At nightfall Tsume had finally reached the walkway to the city and gazed ahead at the distance he still had to go wondering why walking had to be so hard on the human body. Sighing he turned and looked back in the distance and sat down on the ramp as he reached over placing his hand on the wound he still had on his arm. He thought of the potions the woman in Fisherman’s Horizon had mentioned but hadn’t bought any hoping to strike a deal with the train station. Looking back he thought of how far he had come, and wasn’t even sure of where he was at, but stood once again as Kenzi’s face appeared in his head. Growing agitated by his thoughts causing his heart to ache, he started up the ramp and down the walkway hoping to reach the city at least by morning.

Up in an area unfamiliar, Kenzi opened her eyes and looked about confused by being confined. Moving her arms she found they were chained to a wall and immediately remembered what had happened. Tears made it to her eyes as she thought of Tsume and she tried to think of what he might be doing. She thought of his smile and how sweet it had been the first time she saw it, but only found the memories crushing her heart to the point she wished she could stop thinking. As the tears that had been in her eyes rolled down her face she cried for the first time in her life unable to cover her face. However she sobbed hard trying not to think of what was going to happen next, but her tears stopped when a door to the room she was in opened and Galadin stood there. “Well,” he grinned and started toward her, “nice to see you finally awake. How are you feeling my dear?” Kenzi only let her head hang so she didn’t have to look at him and ignored what he asked her. Galadin knelt down in front of her now grabbing her face harshly as he lifted it to look at her, “I know you feel like nothing right now, but…you should be more concerned than you think.” “I’m not concerned,” she glared up at him, “So kill me…what do I care.” “Oh I will,” he squeezed her jaw, “but only when the time is right. For you see…I’m going to wait on one more guest before I continue with the blood bath. Then…there will be two deaths instead of one.” “What are you talking about?” she tried to deny it. “I think you know…your boyfriend is coming and then…as planned before, you will watch him fall to me. You will watch every ounce of his life be sucked from his body, and I will watch you cry for him for I want to see your spirit break before me then only in that moment, will death come to you.” “Your lying.” She growled at him. “I assure you I’m not…he seemed quite determined when I saw him at the Garden. He is coming…it may take him a while to get here, but he will be here and until he arrives you can sit and think about how much you love him and know when he held you…it was the last time.” Kenzi only glared up at Galadin hating him more with every word he spoke then raised her head to look at him as she built a good amount of saliva up in her mouth. Once her eyes met with his she spit it in his face right between his eyes. Galadin looked shocked at first but grinned as he reached up wiping the spit from his face with his fingers then brought them to his mouth where he licked it from his hand. Kenzi only stared at him sickened by what he did and shouted, “Why are you doing this!?” Galadin stood now and turned from her, then exited the room leaving her alone again. Kenzi’s eyes once again filled with tears as she began to cry wishing there were a way she could warn Tsume and began to regret the day he ever met her.
That following morning Tsume stood just outside the large city looking at the lift before him. The wounds on his arm and leg had begun to throb and ache, the bandages now soaked with blood. Closing his eyes he hoped this place could lead him somewhere as he stepped up on the lift and waited, never expecting the thing to take off into the sky at great speed. Falling on his butt he placed his hand to his head as he began to feel dizzy and nauseous then just allow himself to collapse passing out cold. Tsume’s eyes shot open as he now jumped up and looked around seeing he was still laying on the lift. Looking in front of him now he saw a man and a woman standing there. The woman looked at the man, “I think it worked.” “Yes,” the man replied, “I knew it shouldn’t take much more. So son…where are you from?” he asked looked down at Tsume. “I don’t know,” Tsume only told him unsure, “where am I?” “This is Esthar…the largest city in the world. Best technology too…you’re lucky we happened across you. You were on the verge of death, but it wasn’t anything a few potions couldn’t help. Do you know where you’re headed?” “No,” he shook his head looking down at his arm slightly healed, “I’m just looking for anything…a sign, a clue, anything that will help. I’m looking for someone…her name is Kenzi.” “Hmmm,” the man placed his hand to his chin, “well…I haven’t heard of anyone with that name, but then again I’m only a commoner here in Esthar. The president usually has some pretty good advice…you might go talk to him. He might even be able to help you out.” “Oh yeah,” Tsume stood up, “I’ll do that and…thank you…for your help.” “No problem…glad we could help. Well,” he turned back to the woman, “come on Melanie. We should be on our way.” The woman nodded then followed him as a car came out onto the platform, Tsume stepping aside for it, as the two got in and went down the lift. Tsume turned to a door to the left and went out gasping as he stared at the city in awe. It seemed so huge how could he find anything here, but instead of waiting around he headed off in any direction in search of the presidential palace. Over in Garden as everyone was getting breakfast Squall came over the intercom and requested a meeting on the second floor for the visitors in Garden. Soon the meeting was started and Squall announced, “I know things have been hectic and confusing here the past few days, but we are still working on things. I don’t know what happened to the guy we fought, but he’s still out there…we’re doing everything we can to locate him and the girl that was taken from Garden. On the other hand…there are two here that have wolves with them and I know you are probably anxious to get connected with them again, and I do have a plan for that.” Hige and Toboe looked toward the front of the room now listening intently on what he was saying. Squall continued, “There’s a doctor in Esthar, but he’s not an ordinary doctor. He’s the one that created the junctioning system, and he knows everything there is to know about it. I figure we can go by and talk to him in hopes he may be able to get you put back together.” “Wow,” Toboe’s eyes grew wide with excitement, “Can he really do that?” “I’m hoping so…he’s good with what he does, so…I want you and Hige to meet me and my team at the front gate where we will then take a trip to Esthar. We’ll be leaving promptly so try not to take too long getting there.” Toboe stood up and looked at Squall, “I’m ready!” “Me too,” Hige grew excited also. “Good,” he passed a glance at Kiba, “stay here. I promise they’ll be in the best of hands. While we’re out…we’ll see about Tsume.” Kiba only nodded and watched as Squall left the room and headed for the bridge to give Nida directions to land the Garden.
After getting directions to the presidential palace Tsume walked across the city until he stood outside the large building that sat in the center. He looked up at it and started to the entrance when two guards stepped over in front of him, “I’m sorry…no one is allowed to pass. It’s against orders.” “But I have to get through…I need to speak with the president.” Tsume informed them. One of the guards only shook his head, “The president is seeing no one…you’ll have to leave.” “No,” Tsume growled, “I haven’t come all this way just to turn around and walk out. I have to see him!” “Don’t make us take unnecessary force…we’re only doing our jobs.” “And I’m only doing what I have to do.” He told them and quickly reached out taking a weapon with a large blade on it from one of the guard’s side whacking him in the head with it. The guard fell to the ground as Tsume turned to the other one that had pulled out a weapon just like it. Tsume grinned at him, “You’re just dying to end up like him…aren’t you?” The guard only lunged at him taking a swing, but his weapon was knocked from his hand as Tsume slid to the side and brought the other club down on top of his. Then without a moments hesitation Tsume spun around and whacked him in the head with it dropping him to the ground also. He then let go of the weapon and turned headed back toward the palace where he stared at a strange chair looking thing at the entrance, and despite his insecurities about it…took a seat on it. The chair lifted from the spot it had been at and floated down a long tunnel until it stopped inside allowing Tsume off. He stepped off of it looking back at it strangely before rushing down the empty hallway unaware of what awaited him.

Kenzi now sat staring at the floor seeming almost in a state of comatose as she had thought all she could. She had cried until no more tears would fall from her eyes despite how she felt she could. Her head came up but she hung it back when Galadin approached her once again taking the chains in his hand, and ripping them from the wall. He held Kenzi up in front of him, “It’s time…he’s getting closer. I can sense it.” Kenzi screamed as she wiggled about and kicked him in the thigh trying to make him let go, but only found herself thrown to the floor and dragged from the room by the very chains that bound her. Taken to another room, Galadin then lifted her, hanging the loops of the chain on a hook in the wall and turned from her. Kenzi sat in silence for a moment but then pleaded as she managed to cry again, “Please…why are you doing this?” Galadin turned back staring at her through narrowed eyes, “You betrayed me…I trusted you, gave you home, and this is what I get in return. This is the gratitude I get for taking you in off the streets and giving you a chance at a better life.” “A better life how…by making me your servant? Someone to do your bidding whenever you pleased…that’s not a life.” “I could have left you on the streets cold and alone!” “It would have been better…as I ended up cold and alone anyway. There was a time I would have done anything for you…there was a time I loved you…I loved you so much I gave up the biggest part of me.” She cried. “Loved me?” his eyes grew shocked, “Then why…why did you never say anything?” “I thought you knew…I thought you loved me too, but I was wrong.” She cried harder, “I gave up my ability to you only for you to throw me to the side when it was of no use to you…how could I tell you then!?” “Kenzi,” his expression softened and he faced her fully going to her taking her face in his hands, “I did love you, but…how could I tell you I lost your wolf spirit. I know you asked me about it, but how could I explain to you it got away from me. I searched for a very long time, but I never found it. I found it easier to end it myself than to hear what you would have said when I told you the truth.” “You…you didn’t let it go?” she asked surprised. “No…I wanted nothing more than for you to remain by my side, but I knew how much you loved that part of yourself. I couldn’t…besides…” he leaned in kissing her on the mouth holding it for a moment then parted seeing she was exhausted, “it would never work…I would kill your tender human body.” Kenzi breathed having felt her life extinguishing during his kiss and found she felt weak. Galadin still looked at her and sighed as he leaned in close, “However…there is a chance of us still being together…if you allow. All it takes is a single moment…one bite…to remove your life and make you one with me…from my power.” He whispered to her. She only lifted her heavy head and sighed as she built a breath and said, “No…I don’t love you anymore…I love Tsume.” “TSUME!” Galadin cried out in anger and stood straight as he reached out and slapped her across the face, “How dare you lead me on! I will show you what will become of your precious Tsume!”
Busting through a door down the hallway he had gone Tsume now stood inside the president’s office, but grew shocked when he saw no one there. Instead his blood grew cold and he shivered when in the corner of the room he noticed a large cage. Taking a deep breath he went over falling to his knees when he saw the dead grey wolf inside the cage and tried to contain his emotions, but jumped up and spun around punching the wall with such a great force it sent his hand into the panel. Knowing Galadin was here now he ran back out the door and noticed a door to the left he had missed before and went to it smashing through. As he came through it he stared across the room at Kenzi on the wall before Galadin and scowled. “Tsume, NO!” Kenzi hollered at him. Galadin twirled facing Tsume and grinned evilly, “I knew you would come.” Tsume breathed heavily, “You have two things of mine…I want them back.” “I see…well I’m sorry to inform you, but you won’t be making your way back with either one as I have one within me and the other…well you will die before you ever reach her.” “We’ll see about that.” He stood his ground waiting until the moment Galadin started toward him and jumped to the side sending Galadin out into the hallway. Slamming the door shut he rushed over to where Kenzi hang and lifted her up and off the wall, “You have to get out of here.” She crumpled to the floor still weak, “No…you have to get out. He’s going to kill you.” “Kenzi, go! We don’t have a lot of time!” he shouted but looked back as Galadin came back through the door with force. Standing up he stood before her ready to fight his way, the whole time knowing he didn’t stand a chance. Within only a second Galadin had rushed over and picked him up by the throat holding him to his face, “I’ve had enough of you! You die now!” “NO!” Kenzi screamed aloud as she watched Galadin place his hand to Tsume’s stomach and begin to extract the shining spirit inside. Jumping up she ran over trying to knock him down, but was thrown back as Galadin looked at her. Skidding on the floor, she sat a moment, regaining herself before looking up at them, but screamed once again as Tsume’s body was thrown landing before her. She looked up at Galadin who now stood holding to the spirit, but he only raised his arm and let go of it allowing it to float away. Kenzi’s eyes flooded with tears as she realized Tsume was now dead and his spirit lost as she scooted along the floor making her way to his body, taking him in her arms. Holding tightly to him she felt his skin was cold and laid her head on his chest, “Tsume…I’m so sorry!” “I’m so sorry,” Galadin mimicked her going over, “sorry over such a worthless fool…not even his wolf spirit makes me invincible. However…he hasn’t proved totally useless I guess…like some.” He looked down at her, “Now stand and join me…it’s time.” “NO!” she screamed still holding tightly to Tsume’s body. Galadin only reached out placing his hand over her head and moved it a little Kenzi standing involuntarily. She tried to move but found it impossible as he reached out taking her in his arms and brought her to him, “You will be mine…for eternity.” He whispered as he took her head and moved it to the side revealing her neck in which he leaned in pressing his lips to. Slowly his mouth caressed her skin until he bared a pair of fangs, sinking them deeply into her skin. Kenzi yelled out in pain as he began to drain her life from her and she felt herself dying. Somehow managing to reach her hand up she grabbed hold of his shirt now pulling at it, but found with every second her grip loosened and her body jerked. Galadin held to her but lost his grip on her when something hit him in the back throwing him forward into her. Kenzi fell to the floor now not moving, but still stared forward at Galadin who had now stood but stumbled backwards grabbing at his back before her eyes closed leaving her unconscious. Galadin screamed out feeling a tremendous force within him that he couldn’t control as something took him over and began to dig deep in his soul. Hollering out he tried to stop it with all his might, but only let out a deafening scream as it came up his throat and burst out of his mouth and through the door. Galadin fell to one knee as he watched the spirit leave his body knowing what was happening even before the room down the hall ruptured with a blinding light, and the grey wolf appeared in the doorway. Tsume shook, feeling a rush of adrenaline, before hurrying over knocking Galadin to the floor, then jumped off him and went to where Kenzi lay. Picking her up, he started out the door, stopping only for a moment to look back at Galadin his eyes saying it all, as he then continued down the hall and out of the palace.

Tsume continued on down the large walkway of the city, now hiding his true form, and still carrying Kenzi. He wasn’t sure how he was going to get back to Garden now that he had accomplished what he had set out to do, but continued on figuring it would be decided on the way. He passed several people on the way, every one of them stopping to watch as he continued on with the passed out girl, but ignored them until he noticed a small group of people down a walkway. He grinned as he saw Toboe standing there and started that way happy to see a familiar face. Toboe stood outside the door as Squall was inside talking to the doctor, and turned when he heard footsteps his smile widening when he saw Tsume. He rushed to his friend, “Tsume! Wow, how did you get here!?” “Too much to explain,” he replied. “Oh,” Toboe’s smile faded as he looked down at Kenzi in his arms, “Tsume…is she…” “I don’t know,” he seemed to grow aggravated, “but I know she needs a doctor.” “Well…there’s a doctor in there.” He pointed back to the lab behind him. Tsume sighed but looked up when Squall came down the stairs saying, “But he’s a different kind of doctor…we can take her back to see Dr. Kadowaki.” He stopped passing Tsume a glance, “Did you find what you were looking for?” “I did,” Tsume nodded now revealing himself, but quickly covered himself again looking down sadly at Kenzi. Squall’s eyebrows rose as he stared at the wolf for the split second and nodded, “Don’t worry…we’ll get her help. Toboe…Hige…” he turned going back to where they stood, “Dr. Odine said go on in…he’s going to help you get your wolf spirits back inside you.” “Really?” Toboe questioned, “How long will it take?” “I don’t know…he said give him a day, so we’ll leave you here and come back in the morning tomorrow to get you. I’m sure he’ll get it.” “Should I feel nervous?” Hige asked rubbing his head. “I won’t lie…maybe a little, but I’m sure things will be fine.” Squall assured. They both nodded but Toboe stopped as they started in and went back to Tsume, “Ummm…when Kenzi wakes up…tell her I said hi.” Tsume only nodded at him and waited for Squall to join him before he said, “That guy is in the presidential palace.” “What?” Squall looked at him, “Is he still there?” “He was…when I left, but I don’t know if I would count on him staying there.” “Of course not…we have to go now.” He turned signaling to Zell and Rinoa telling them, “We have to make a trip to the presidential palace…that guy is there.” “Really there?” Rinoa asked shocked. “Yes…I would wait, but we have to get him before he leaves.” “Wait a minute,” Zell asked shooting Tsume a glare as he pointed at Kenzi, “What happened to her?” “We don’t know yet, but we’ll worry about that when we get back to Garden. We have to catch him before he gets somewhere else.” “You better take care of her.” Zell warned Tsume. “I’m the only one that ever has.” He told him and turned to Squall. “Take her to the air station,” Squall told him, “the Ragnarok is there waiting. We’ll be back as soon as we can.” “And if you don’t come back?” Tsume asked. “Don’t give me doubt…I don’t need it.” Squall told him and pointed down the walkway before running in the direction of the palace.
Over at the presidential palace Squall and his group made their way into the building shocked to find Laguna’s office destroyed. Stopping before the large room the battle had taken place in Squall stepped in looking around for Galadin, but grew angry when he found nothing. Agitated he sighed and placed his hand to his forehead, “He’s not here…he’s left again.” “But where to now?” Zell asked. “If I knew that…I wouldn’t be troubled.” Squall told him casting him a glance. Zell only frowned but jumped when Rinoa pointed as she said, “Wait! What is that!?” Squall watched where she pointed and went over kneeling down where Galadin had been and picked up a large brown book with a strange symbol on the cover. He looked it over then pulled it open thumbing through the pages as he looked and shook his head, “I don’t know…it seems to be some kind of spell book. However…it’s not of this world so I don’t understand it.” Rinoa went over taking it from his hands and looked it over, “Someone must know…I think we should take it with us.” “Yeah,” Squall stood and looked around the area, “I don’t know…I think he’s gone, for good.” “You think? What makes you so sure?” “I don’t know,” he shrugged, “I guess I don’t know for sure, but why else would he leave that?” “True, we should get back to Garden.” “Yeah.” He replied shaking his head before walking out the door. Zell and Rinoa followed, Rinoa still clutching the book in her arms.
Back over in Garden as Dr. Kadowaki looked Kenzi over she shook her head, “She’s breathing, but she feels very cold…I just can’t put my finger on it. She has these strange bite marks on her neck.” She touched Kenzi’s neck and sighed, “I gave her a phoenix down, but we’ll just have to wait and see if it works.” Tsume only stood at the end of the bed looking at her, “Can I wait here with her?” “Sure…be my guest, but if she does happen to wake up…could you let me know?” Tsume nodded and watched the doctor leave the room, then went over taking a seat close to where she had been. He looked down at her wondering how things would be when she woke up, and self doubt began to build in his mind. He sighed as he watched her, leaning in when she moaned and placed her hand on her neck rubbing the spot with the marks. Turning her head back she opened her eyes part way seeing Tsume there and asked, “Tsume…how…where are we?” He only kept his eyes on her, as she sat up on the bed, and replied, “Garden…we’re at Garden.” “What happened to Galadin?” she asked. “I don’t know,” he shrugged, “I just got you and ran.” “Tsume…what happened? You…you were,” she reached out to touch his face but drew her hand back in shock as he moved away. Staring hurt at him she began to shake as he only stared across the room at her stating, “Don’t touch me.” Her eyes filled with tears as she managed to ask, “Why? Tsume…did I do something?” He only shook his head and stepped out the door leaving her there as he informed Dr. Kadowaki she was awake. Before long the woman came into the room and looked at her, “How are you feeling?” “Where’s Tsume?” Kenzi asked trying to control her tears. “I…I don’t know…he told me you were awake then walked out the door. Is everything alright?” she took a seat back in the chair. Kenzi only broke out crying placing her face in her hands unable to answer.

Tsume rushed through Garden, everyone gasping as he went along in his true form, and didn’t stop until he was out on the Quad balcony. He took a few steps forward looking down at his feet a moment, as sorrow filled his heart. Standing there looking at his grey paws he thought of Kenzi and raised his face to the sky letting out a long sad howl. He stopped when he heard footsteps in the door behind him and turned now looking at Zell and growled low. Zell only stepped on into the door and looked down at him, “I know what you’re thinking, and you’re right. You and Kenzi…will never be together again.” “Shut up,” he told him, “I don’t need you to tell me that.” “I know that…you can look at yourself and see it, but now all I wonder is how is Kenzi going to handle this. How can she ever go on loving you…when you look like that? You’re no longer human…” “I know that!” Tsume suddenly appeared human, “Now shut your mouth!” “I see,” Zell raised his eyebrows, “maybe you have plans on fooling her…like that. I don’t think she’ll buy it for long though…she’s smarter than that.” “I said shut up!” Tsume lunged forward at Zell his hand appearing to whack Zell in the face, but when he looked back up Zell stood his face now bleeding from the tooth marks there. Zell reached up touching his face now seeing the blood, “What the hell!? You bit me!” Tsume’s eyes grew wide as he realized what he had done and he looked down at himself only seeing what he really was. Confused and full of anger now he dashed past Zell and though the Quad stopping on the steps when Kenzi appeared there. He looked up them at her, but quickly looked away ashamed to even make eye contact. Still gazing at him Kenzi started down the steps, tears still in her eyes. “Tsume,” she approached him, “I’m sorry for whatever I’ve done.” “Kenzi,” he replied still refusing to look at her, “it’s not you. It’s just…” he let his guard down showing himself to her. Kenzi gasped as her foot touched the last step and she stared at him and whispered, “You got it back.” Tsume only stood still looking at the ground unable to say anything to her, and trying to come to terms with all he was feeling. They both turned as Zell came from the balcony and started up the steps. He glared at Tsume as he went then looked at Kenzi, “I wouldn’t trust him,” he pointed to his face, “look what he did to me.” Kenzi only glanced at Zell’s face then back to Tsume, but frowned when she found him gone. She turned back to Zell, “I have no one else to trust. No matter the form…I love Tsume. I have to make him understand this.” “But,” Zell reached out to her as she took off in the direction of the balcony, then cursed as he turned heading to the exit. Kenzi continued on until she stepped out onto the balcony and saw Tsume there once again. She stood in silence knowing he knew she was there and only waited until he asked, “What?” “Tsume,” she spoke softly, “why are you angry?” “Kenzi,” he looked at her then at himself, “look at me. Do you like what you see?” “You’re a wolf…it’s true, but isn’t this all what you wanted?” “I don’t know anymore…I thought about it a lot, and when it actually came down to getting it back I took the chance, but now…I feel like I hate what I am. I feel like I want to take it back.” “Why? This is you…the other was just a shell.” “But,” he appeared human holding his hands out presenting himself, “this is what you want. Not a wolf…all I want is to be with you Kenzi, and now…it’s impossible. You can never love me like I am.” “I’ve never loved you for any other reason than what you were. Sure you were in another form before but,” she walked to him touching his chest feeling the fur through his disguise, “what I love about you is still right here. It has never changed.” “I see what you’re saying Kenzi, but…we’re different now.” He reached out gently taking her hand. Kenzi felt his teeth on her skin and knelt down wrapping her arms around his neck as she whispered, “Let me see you Tsume.” Discarding the disguise he allowed her to hug him still loving how it felt when she held him. She stood up looking down at him, “I need some rest…I’m still quite tired, but when you’re done searching for what you truly want…come and find me.” Tsume watched her go knowing she was right and turned looking back out over the balcony at the sky before him, now letting out another howl.
Squall made his way down the hallway of the dormitory and stopped before Kenzi’s door knocking on it gently. He knocked a couple of more times then opened it slightly peeking in first before going completely in. He went to her room and found her resting on the bed then shook her gently. She opened her eyes and looked up at him then sat up, “I’m sorry…I didn’t hear you knock.” “It’s alright,” Squall assured her and squatted down next to the bed, “are you feeling alright?” “Better,” she smiled, “what can I help you with?” “I didn’t want to bother you since Dr. Kadowaki said she sent you to your room to rest, but there’s something I need to ask you about.” “Sure.” Squall reached under his arm and pulled the book out presenting it to her, “This…do you know anything about it?” Kenzi’s eyes grew worried and she took it looking it over, “It was Galadin’s…this is the book he used to learn most of his powers, and to come from other dimensions.” “I kind of thought so, but how familiar with it are you?” “He showed me a lot in it, and explained a lot to me so I guess I could say I’m fairly familiar with what’s in it? Why?” she glanced his way. “Think you can use a spell in it…say to help our friends back to their world? I’ve been wondering how to do this and well…I’m kinda hoping you could help.” “I can,” she ducked her head, “I know how to open the gateway.” He saw her sadness, “Will you help me?” She nodded as she said quietly, “Yes. I will.” “Thank you,” he stood up, “I’ll leave that here with you. I’m figuring tomorrow will be good…since Toboe and Hige should be back here and back to normal by then.” “Okay.” She said closing the book as Squall went back out the door. Picking it up, she placed it on the shelf next to the bed, and then got up placing her feet on the floor. She stood up seeing things had begun to get dark, and turned to the door when she heard a light scratch at it. Going over she pulled the door open staring up at Tsume there. He offered her a smile then reached out taking her hand, “Come on…I have an idea.” Without hesitation or shoes Kenzi followed him out of the room and the dormitory, then into the Quad. He led her until they once again stood out on the balcony the sunset lighting it up in an array of different colors. He stopped and looked back at her, “I don’t know if this will work, but I was thinking that maybe the reason your wolf spirit was lost is because she could never find you. Maybe,” he pushed her up to the railing, “if you call out to her…she’ll come. I’ll help.” “But how?” “Does she have a name?” Kenzi nodded, “Call it…” Kenzi stepped up onto the railing and looked out into the distance as she closed her eyes thinking of her wolf’s name, and in the same moment began to call her own name. With her, Tsume began to howl into the distance their voices combining as it went into the horizon. They continued for a few minutes Kenzi loving how it sounded, but stopped awaiting an answer. The scene remained silent as no reply ever came back and Kenzi stepped down from the rail looking at Tsume, “I’m sorry…I was hoping it would work also.” “It was just an idea,” he told her hiding the fact his heart was broken, “I just hoped we might be able to be together in the end.” “Tsume,” she spoke softly, “will you come stay with me tonight. I don’t think anyone will say anything this time. I would just love to have your company.” “Are you sure?” “Yes…I don’t want to be alone.” He returned her glance then nodded and followed her from the balcony and back to her room.
