First off, I should say that if you have not read this volume yet and you don't want it to be [SPOILED] for you, then do not look at this thread.
I'm terribly afraid that a ravenous mob will tear me to shreds for this, so please let me explain before attacking me in the most horrible manner. Also, I'd like for you to actually read it before you begin disagreeing with my views, ravenous mob. Thank you. -.-'
Wolf's Rain Volume 2 is a huge disappointment for me, after the first volume, which was ok by my standards. Its starts out just where the second left off and has a good sense of emotion and followed along with anime quite nicely. But that's where it stops being a good manga, and turns into a crappy manga. This one is over 200 pages long, reason being, it has to fit in all of the remaining episodes into one more manga instead of making another. This one is much cluttered it seems, as if they just grabbed all the episodes and forced them into the manga making it choppy and sort of "crammed in", if you know what I mean.
The second thing that really bothered me was the number of plot changes and plot holes. I'm alright with tweaks and changes in the story, myself being a big LOTR fan, but they went a bit overboard here. They made their own story, loosely following the anime, and one of the only similarities between manga and anime was the characters and the way they acted and developed. They removed the epic seen with the giant bugs, and the humor of Hige and Toboe "playing" in the pond, and instead plopped our wolves and our flower on top of some mountain where Darcia recaptures Cheza and Kiba is lost. Last time I checked, this happened far after Cheza was first captured. Blue becomes evil for a while, Kiba loses both his eyes and nobody dies at the end.
Some may say that this is a good thing, considering it was rather sad when everyone died at the end, but it causes the manga to lack emotion and a good ending. In fact, one of the biggest let downs of the whole thing was the ending. After Kiba breaks free from his bonds like in the anime and saves Cheza, it goes to Tia who's talking with her brother or someone about her flowers. They say something about flowers petals and a rumor of Paradise being opened and then it cuts to two people standing on a cliff that look rather like Hige and Kiba, which still doesn't explain anything. Such as, did they actually die? Is Paradise really opened? If so, are these people Kiba and Hige, and if so why are they in Tia's village?

I did like the Blue x Darcia partnership. Although I did miss Hige and Blue there was none of that in the Manga and the fact that ::Manga Spoiler:: Blue is the only wolf who dies is kind of a upseting. ::End spoiler:: Blue never even meets Cheza. She kind of randomly becomes aware she is a wolf.
The two cubs in the end? they are I guess the same two Blue saves, who grew up way to fast. yea I didn't understand that either.
It is just way to rushed.

Actually, when I saw Blue and Darcia almost kissing, I rather liked the relarionship, but her dying and never even seeing Cheza or Quent again... I really didn't like that. I think she became aware she was a wolf because of Darcia and perhaps his eye. I'm not sure though.
Those were the pup who Blue saved? If they grew up that fast, than why didn't Tia look any older, huh? It's strange. Its those little things, little details that they were just to lazy to look at, that annoy me so much.

I also think that the two boys at the end were the two cubs that Blue saved.
Anyway, I was also disappointed with the manga because it was too “rushed,” and because the manga’s storyline was so different from the anime.
So Creator of Time, you weren’t the only one that was disappointed with it.

I finally found them at the library! I can't wait to get them because I've been waiting forever. I hate and love it already. Even though I don't have my delicate paws and claws on them yet.

They could talk about where they shopped for trench coats, ah amour. I guess wolves age faster?

I guess wolves age faster? Wolves can live up to fifteen years - dogs can do the same - and since they say dogs age seven years in one “human” year - maybe wolves age at that same rate and that’s why the cubs aged faster than Tia - just a thought.

I wasn't too nuts over this either. I mean sure I wasn't expecting it to be just like the show, but the above posts describe a lot of what I didn't like about it. I didn't really like the ending...it was too open and they didn't tell what happened to anyone. It was confusing to me and I'm with Dark Kiba...I'd rather watch the show. I am however...glad I have it for my collection of Wolf's Rain stuff.

Its not impossible to make a good manga with 2 volumes, but they really failed. I guess since this is the topic ill just make a mini-rant here. I hated the grammar and way of talking- some times it really had no relevance and sentences seemed to be only made to look cool. There were lots of spelling and grammar errors, and they said "shi-" on EVERY page.... and they beeped out their own cuss words... story- what the hell?? it made no sense at parts... the whole "all the wolves going crazy" chapter wa sso random, and i didnt like seeing 100+ wolves dying and killing each other. blue being evil, tsume almost killing cheza by slitting her throat, darcia using jagara's moon crucible idea.... speaking of jagara, she wasnt there!! (refer to my avatar, i love her) animation- SUCKED!! the wolves looked like aliens, with huge ass long poles for feet, and there were seens were a character was missing a nose and a mouth, and i just hated the animation style in general. All in all, this really pissed me off. If anyone reads this shit first, they wont bother with the anime, which is a VERY good anime. I give this a 0/10, i hope the writers and animators get raped and cut in an underground prison filled with mosquitoes.

Compared to #1, for me, #2 would be considered good crap (#1 was horribly boring, especially the whole part with Toboe and Tia and the "outsider" fanatics). In the entire scope of anime manga, both are on an unspeakable level of crap. I'd rather there have not been a manga because this one was just so horribly rushed and there was no amount of effort in actually making it good, cramming a 30 episode run into two books and making something like the anime yet completely not like the anime. The drawing was good, as expected. But I do feel like I wasted my money.

I was actually advised by my fellow forumers on how shitty it was -- i still bought it, because it has the title "wolf's rain" on it. i had no idea how pissed it would make me.... i found volume 1 okay while volume 2 sucked, contrary to you Crickie. Volume 1, the first half of it at least, was at some percentage relevant to the show... while volume 2 was just... just... i think it is quite incorrect to call any of them crap- that is being far too nice. I would call both of them bull shit and i am quite glad many people here dislike it as well.

I couldn't agree more on this...I also thought the wolves looked weird, and somehow the characters in it didn't seem as connected as they were in the show. For example...in the show when the wolves first meet Cheza...you can feel your heart beating with theirs and you feel their anxiety, but in the manga...I was just like...WTF? "Did I miss a page or something?" I had to go back several times just to make sure I didn't. Sadly enough...I didn't. As I said...I read them, but only once...I now only have them for a collection.
