Not to look beyond the legal sense of things, but if you have your heart set on drinking, than let's be honest-is it REALLY all that difficult to obtain alcohol? I can't speak for you, but in my experiences, I've been expsed to alcohol on a pretty regular basis, by which I could support a regular habit of drinking daily if I chose.
But legally, yes it's safe to assume that most children aren't responsible enough to deal with the effects that aocohol comes with. We're more inclined to drink too much too fast-and, because of many kid's poor planning skills-drive drunk.

But i have enough self-control to know that i shouldn't drive when i drink. However, most people are incapable of that.

I believe the drinking age should be lowered. Most teens I know drink just because it's illegal and want to seem cool or badass.A girl I knew from Argentina said minors were allowed to drink, but no one really did,but when she moved here it was basically vice versa-minors aren't allowed, but do.
I don't think lowering the drinking age to 18 would cause any major problems.

im 14 but who says that i dont drink?? no one, which brings up another important point, and that is if the drinking age was lowered, even younger kids would drink, to seem cool. If the long-old saying is true, that 18 year olds drink to be cool, then if it was lowered to 18 then you would have 12 to 15 year olds getting hammered. Yes, I understand that we already have that problem, but it'd be alot worse should the age be lowered. At the moment, the drinking age is fine and like others have said, underage drinkers should have no problem of getting ahold of alchohol if it's what they really want.

To me, there is no such thing as 'old enough to kill a man'. Anyone can kill a man. I could go out and kill right now. I could have ten years ago. Nathaniel Abraham killed a man at 12: youngest in Michigan to go to jail for murder. Let's pass him a brew. Killing does not make you competent to drink. Not to me, anyway. I just don't see it. I'm sorry. this is alittle late, but your right. I should have said if someone is old enough to be forced into the military. My whole point was based on whether there was or was not a mandatory military service for 18 year olds, not whether you can kill a man, although I did say that, so I was wrong about that. anyway, what I was trying to say is that if a certain age group doesn't have a choice about entering the military, then they should have the choice of being able to drink or not legaly, which is the only reason I would support a lowered drinking age, and it's completely theoritcal.

But when you’re in the military the drinking age doesn’t apply to you – you can still get an alcoholic beverage even if you’re underage, so they have already considered that aspect.
