Paranoia Agent premiered on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block last Saturday night after Samurai Champloo.
In the first episode, we encounter Tsukio Sagi, creator of the popular character Miromi. Apparently, she's hit a creative block on creating Miromi's successor. Her coworkers are jealous of her success and bear ill will against her. On her way home from work, Sagi is savagely beaten by what looks like a kid on rollerskates weilding a bent metal bat.

I had to go to my sister's dance show in Los Angeles, and missed ALL of Adult Swim -- the day of the premieres!
Well, Devinfire told me he thought it was very, very odd and that he ... thought it was odd.
Im very curious to see it though.

I think I might like this show more than Samurai Champloo.I mean I'm enjoying SC,but it just seems a bit typical next to this show.PA got my full attention as soon as I saw the opening.

Yeah I feel the same way. I loved the opening...it was extremely catchy and there was just something about it that immediately draws you in. I can't wait to see the next episode.

Actually Sagi wasn't beaten, but attacked and she ducked. That's why those detectives questioned the grounds of the case, and apparently it's occured before. this show seems to deal with how rumors grow and how bizaar the human mind is. you see alot of different personalities. i don't the animation though, and I didn't like the opening either. it's different for sure, but it didn't click with my tastes.
all in all i thought it was odd, which is good considering it's a pyschological thriller.

I found it very odd........ I think it has something to do with the fact that I had only seen one episode.

Paranoia Agent, like Ghost In The Shell, is another anime that requires you to think and notice subtle character expressions. Unlike anime such as Inuyasha which spoonfeeds the viewer every emotion and action like a small and unattentive child. Paranoia Agent is simply put, a thriller, not action. It's keeps inquiring, "just who is this L'il Slugger, this childlike enigma that attacks people for no apparent reason?". The characters develop around the plot. Whereas anime like Inuyasha features character development as stale as a loaf of French bread in an empty shop for fifty years. Sure, they were deep to begin with, but it never seemed to evolve with the circumstances they were in. The investigation of L'il Slugger along with the shows esoteric and creepy music really sets the stage for a superb anime. Anyway, from what I heard, AS will be showing the first four episodes in English and the rest in Japanese with English subtitles.

i agree with your opinion on PA. But I dont agree with you bashign of Inuyasha... IMO theres character development, it's just not fed to you as fast as other animes due to it's large episode base. Watch them all and you will see. As for Little Slugger... I dont think he attacks people for no reason. I see it as a breaking point, it seems when a person was reaching their max in mental anguish they snap and he's there to put an end to it. im not saying he's good or anything however, just that his appearance seems to serve a purpose. as for as showing the first four episodes in english and the rest in subtitles... i cannot see any reason for that unless the rest of the episodes are simply not dubbed... and if they do this, i wont watch it. im a huge fan of GITS and I could hardly force myself to finish GITS2:Innocence due to the awful idea of not dubbing it... they already had a great cast to work with... and PA has a great Dub, why would they cease with it? makes no sense.

This third episode especially was very good and creepy and caused me to think. Im looking forward to the rest of the show, im very excited. I particularly enjoy creepy things. I also think he represents the breaking point of people suffering - all of his four victims were under extreme stress or depression and felt relieved afterwards, and i really find this storyline to be very unique and interesting. Im disturbed to hear this as well. But i hope your information is wrong, for some reason i have my doubts.4/26 episodes (its 26 right?) dubbed? Heh i may have to buy the dvds... As for Inuyasha, i dont think tis a really good show, but it manages to entertain me. It's not deep like PA, GITS, or WR.
